This 8th Grade QB Is Already Getting Offers From D1 Schools
A Southern California 8th grader is already raking in offers to play football at D1 schools.
From Youth1.com:
It’s not easy to make guarantees for kids that will go on to be D1 football players, but when it comes to players like DJ Uiagalelei, you feel pretty confident making the prediction. Uiagalelei is a supreme athlete from Southern California, and at 6’4 and roughly 230-pounds, he has dominated the quarterback position on way to becoming two time youth All American QB.
The young prospect took the first steps in making the dream of playing division 1 football a reality when he visited a pair of prestigious Pac-12 schools in UCLA and USC. Uiagalelei found himself in the office of the man in charge at UCLA – head coach Jim Mora.
“When I was in the main office, I got the chance to sit down with the head coach Jim Mora and he was surprised at how big I was,” Uiagalelei said. “Coach Mora talked to me about how much they wanted me to be a Bruin.”
Jesus Christ. As of yesterday, he’s also got commitment offers from Oregon State and Fresno. This kid decided to forgo his actual 8th-grade season so these offers were all based on how he played through 7th grade. When I was in 7th grade, I was four foot tall and just discovering internet porn.
While investment-wise, getting in on a freaking potential Hercules while he’s still just a kid is a good bet for these programs, I think there’s something to be said about how stupidly competitive college recruiting has become when we’re making bids on middle schoolers. I swear this same thing was a Nathan For You joke last season.
Of course, if we’re being honest, everyone knows Uiagalelei is just going to string the PAC 12 along for a couple years and then commit to an SEC program in high school, so it was probably for nothing..
