The Greenbrier Classic Is Two Weeks Away And The Golf Course Is Currently More Suitable For Whitewater Rafting

Get a look at the Old White TPC Golf Course right now while keeping in mind that it’s scheduled to host the Greenbrier Classic in two weeks.

Call me glass half full, but this might be the best thing to happen to Greenbrier since the 1979 Ryder Cup. No one wants to play it (just look at the field), let alone watch the biggest snoozer of a tournament all season long. Can’t wait for that final Sunday group of Kevin Streelman and Johnson Wagner. Best case scenario before this flood, you see Bubba blow up on his caddie or Harold Varner dab. But now, with all of West Virginia under water, this event has my curiosity.

You thought the greens at the U.S. open were unfair? Wait until your ball is swept away by the course’s current. Players paddling upstream using Jason Gore and Colt Knost as flotation devices would be must-see TV. Ben Crane’s burnt bald dome bobbing around like a fishing float would be electric. I don’t want to watch the Greenbrier now, I need to watch the Greenbrier. Need it like the air these greens need to breathe.

I don’t know much about maintaining a golf course, but this looks pretty bad

As someone who has maintained a course, just a little sweeping of the greens should spruce it up enough.

I have a house up there and no one plays the Old White anyways so this is irrelevant

I was just there for the WV Amateur, and I agree. It’s really expensive for a vacationer golf course but if you’re there anyways odds are you have money. I prefer The Greenbrier course, or The Sporting Club. (Obviously)

I’ve played the course, it’s a nice course but probably not worth hosting a PGA event

You must’ve played The Meadows. The Old White from the tips along with the greens make it a completely different story. Plus the obnoxiously tall grass surrounding fairway bunkers.
