Ex-Police Chief Starting Uber Using Only Cop Drivers

The chief of the Dallas ISD police is quitting to start an Uber-like company where all the drivers are cops.

From The Dallas Morning News:

Miller said the new business, called Bubbl, will roll out in the next 30 days. He and a group of partners, who will run the business until he retires, plan to start in the Park Cities area and eventually expand.

“We’re going to bubble wrap your kid,” he said. The drivers will be current off-duty officers and former police officers, he added.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but where I’m from, the vast majority of Uber users are in the process of actively breaking some kind of law. Usually drunk and disorderly or public urination-related. Lots of indecent exposure, too.

Plus, when I’m drunk, I get incredibly uncomfortable around law enforcement. Thinking about trying to slur barely coherent directions to a cop while tonguing through a sloppy hookup in the back of his Charger freaks the shit out of me. And I’m not totally sure what he means by “bubble wrapping your kids.” What is that? Is that a sex thing? Gross.

I’m going to give this one a hard pass.

“we’re going bubble wrap your kids” — that doesn’t sound gay or anything

While I understand why they’re doing this, you’d never find me in one of these cars

Every time I suggest my parents try Uber, they say “I don’t want some random creep driving me around.” So I think this might get a different demographic than wasted Uber users.

Taxi drivers and off duty cops can be random creeps just like an uber driver. Cops use their uniform to sexually exploit women every day in this country

its a great concept…but the main thrill of uber is being able to drink in the back of the car on the way to the bars…and dont dare get handsy with your date on the way home with a cop in drivers seat

Last time I was in a cop car he played the shittiest local radio station and refused to let me on the aux. So I won’t be using this service.

Since I live in a pretty dangerous city, I’ll probably download this for the few times I’m not near blackout and need a ride home at 3am. Solid idea.

The big trend amongst the high schoolers is to Uber to and from school. This is probably directed at that crowd.
