Texas Tech Fans, No Tortillas Allowed At Arizona State This Saturday

College football is going from the best opening weekend ever to a rather pedestrian weekend slate of games. One of the games that may be watchable is the Texas Tech Red Raiders travelling to Tempe to take on the Sun Devils of Arizona State. Unfortunately for Texas Tech fans, tortillas have been banned from the stadium.

Texas Tech’s Red Raider Outfitter warned fans about the news.

Texas Tech fans may think they are the reason that tortillas have been banned. They might think that ASU knew of their tradition of sneaking the delicious discs into Jones Stadium and throwing them in the air at kickoff. But the reality is that Arizona State fans used to do this as well, up until 2014 when the school officially banned tortillas from the game. Hence why it’s on the sign.

The real issue here is not the tortilla ban. We just need to stop throwing tortillas. Pick a food that no one actually enjoys eating, like coleslaw or gluten free bread. You know what you could be doing with those tortillas at tailgate instead of saving them for game time? Tacos, fajitas, sausage wraps, using it to scoop as much queso and guacamole into your mouth as possible. Really anything is a better use than letting them fall to the Lubbock ground.

We need to stop disrespecting the tortilla by wasting them on Saturdays.

    1. Tortillas have been banned at Tech games for years, and even with a clear bag policy they still flew last week, so this won’t stop anything.
    2. Fuck you for telling me not to throw tortillas.
