Who Is Getting Fired At Yahoo! For This Unfortunate José Fernández Message On Their Home Page?

Jose Fernandez

Yesterday morning, the tragic news of José Fernández’s passing swept the internet. The whole MLB world was shook, as Fernández was one of the most liked characters in baseball. He brought the passion and energy to the game that is what made it so great. He was originally slated to start Sunday’s game against the Braves, and the Marlins pushed his start back to today so he could take on the Mets.

Yahoo! had the article from SNY talking about the start being pushed back scheduled to go out this morning on their homepage, and, according to Deadspin, that message still made its way to the homepage.

Hey, Yahoo!: I understand that you’re using automated links and shit, but come on. Gotta have a real life human being monitoring those links, just in case something like this happens. Someone’s getting canned for this.

There was no pitcher I enjoyed watching more than Jose. Electric stuff and an electric presence. RIP.
