Pregnant Girlfriend Of FIU Tight End Pours Boiling Water On His Head, Ending His Season

The college career of FIU senior tight end Jonnu Smith, the team’s premier offensive player over his four seasons and easily the Panthers’ best 2017 NFL Draft prospect, ended on Halloween when his girlfriend doused him with boiling water. According to the arrest affidavit, Smith suffered severe burns on his head, neck, back, a shoulder and an arm.

Miami Gardens resident Mary Gaspar, five months pregnant with Smith’s child, was charged with aggravated battery. Gaspar has been released on a pre-trial release order.

The two argued through the day over the attention Smith was paying her and their relationship. While in Smith’s dorm room and “feeling extremely emotional and stressed,” she told police, she boiled a pot of water. Then, she walked over to Smith and poured it on him.

So she’s going to prison. She’ll be temporarily released to give birth to Smith’s kid then she’s going right back to the clink to finish her term, right? Several years, I’m thinking? There’s a crazy girl spectrum and premeditating the boiling of water to pour over your boyfriend’s head because he’s not paying enough attention to you is near the extreme crazy end.

Smith is a legit NFL prospect, too. Just an unfortunate story any way you look at it. The kid’s season is over, his career and potential to make big money is in jeopardy, she’s going to jail, and the poor kid will be born into a really shitty reality with a lunatic for a mom. Fuck fuck fuck.
