SMU Theta’s House Now Has An Original George W. Bush Painting Hanging In It Thanks To Alumna Laura Bush

I’m not sure there’s any fraternity or sorority house in the country that can compete with what the Theta house at Southern Methodist University now has hanging in it. Not unless there’s a Winchester rifle Teddy Roosevelt used to hunt and kill Sasquatch with mounted somewhere. Preferably with the inscription, “The Winchester may fell even the foulest of beasts, and was this woodland bully ever foul, roaring with rage as it sodomized a for once not-so-mighty grizzly. But now the great angry ape is dead, and these wilds are reclaimed for man to explore unafraid, and bears to go about their lives unmolested. – Theodore Roosevelt, 1885,” on a plaque beneath it.

Probably not, though.

But yeah, apparently Laura Bush stopped by her old sorority today to gift one of her husband’s paintings to the girls, apropos of who knows what, other than maybe there being hundreds of paintings laying around the Bush house that she wanted to get rid of. Seems plausible. Dubya has plenty of free time and he’s inarguably a prolific painter. She might not even be able to get into their garage it’s so full. Just filled with paintings of dogs, soldiers, world leaders, their gardner Enrique drinking a lemonade in the yard, Laura screaming at George to “get rid of all these damn paintings.” This man will paint any and everything.

Regardless of why they were given a W. painting, SMU Theta’s Instagram makes it clear that the girls were in fact lucky enough to get one.

I couldn’t procure a picture of the painting, but I really hope it’s of a young Laura, nude behind a yellow and black kite, holding up the “Pony Up” symbol. W. does paint nudes, after all..
