These Two UFC Fighters Are Really, Really Bad At Trash Talking

Last week, I wrote about Terrelle Pryor’s mega lame response to Pacman Jones calling him “garbage.” In that article, I gave some phenomenal advice about how pulling a wild card move and saying something unexpected is a great way to respond to trash talk. I believe the example I gave was something somewhat tame; something along the lines of responding to someone calling your mom fat with “Oh yeah? Well I sucked your dad’s dick so hard last night that I prolapsed his bladder.”

And I stand by that strategy, because usually it will frazzle your verbal opponent and give you a slight edge in the confrontation. When your opponent just goes along with it, however, it can get very weird very fast. Case in point:

Cruz: … busted on your face.

Garbrandt: Oh, I hope so.

Cruz: It’s gonna be fun.

Garbrandt: I’ma eat everything you got.

Cruz: You think so…

There were some words before this weird exchange that gave it much more context, but it’s way funnier if we just cut in there.

UFC needs more of this stuff pre-fight. I don’t care that you’re going to “knock his ass out” or “tie him up in a knot.” I want to hear about how you’re going to gratefully take his load or “check his ass out” or “tie him up and check out his balloon knot.” These guys answering the question of “how far are they willing to take this?” is way more exciting than hearing 500 different ways to say “I’m going to beat your ass, buddy!”.
