Sunday Scaries Will Take On A Whole New Meaning This Weekend

Sunday marks the 15th annual No Pants Subway Ride. The event, which was unbeknownst to me, takes place in 25+ cities across America.

The title pretty much sums up everything you need to know. If you needed to know more, Time Out provides further details on the event’s New York location.

With New Year end-of-days sermons, tourists, and layers of uncomfortable warm clothing getting in your way, it’s likely you’re not loving your daily subway commute. Luckily, you can join thousands of New Yorkers in taking those winter layers off—starting with your pants. This Sunday, the fifteenth annual No Pants Subway Ride is hitting NYC’s underground for another day of bare-legged frivolity. The large scale prank—which takes place in over 25 cities—invites passengers to wear full winter clothes but strip down to their skivvies to draw out reactions from strangers. Afterwards, pants-free partiers gather for a rager.

As if riding mass transit wasn’t unbearable enough, now you’re going to get an unsolicited look at pale hairy upper thighs and cellulite on your way to brunch on Sunday. You know no one worth the time of day to actually stare at in their underwear would attend an event like this.

These are the same people that will travel across the country to attend a protest for the sake of protesting. They have no job, no real purpose in life, and they damn sure don’t wear pants on the subway. If you ever wondered where these people disappear to when it isn’t an election year, now you know.

I’m not really sure how this classifies as a prank. This is a classic case of people laughing at you, not with you. Passenger reactions will range from horrified to reserved smiles as they “sneak” in photos to post across social media feeds with a one-liner that is sure to kill as a caption.

This No Pants Subway Ride is sure to bring the Sunday Scaries to a whole new level.
