From Good Boy To Ball Boy — Professional Tennis Tournament Using Rescue Dogs To Shag Balls
It’s Thursday, the first of the four Good Days, so I figured I’d hit you with a Good Story about Good Boys to start this Good Day off right.
The Brasil Open, a professional tennis tournament whose past champions include noted capybara lookalike Rafa Nadal and guy-you’ve-never-heard-of Gustavo Kuerten, is supporting the adoption of shelter dogs in Brazil by having six adoptable rescue dogs “work” as ball boys during warmup sessions at this year’s tournament. I say “work” because it looks like these Good Boys are having a ball shagging balls.
All of last year’s Good Boys were adopted post-tournament, and I have a hard time believing this year’s puppers won’t be as well. Even those who’d rather cut half their arm off lengthwise (AKA the most painful way to cut half your arm off) than sit through a tennis match can agree that this makes tennis watchable. Sure, it only makes the warmup portion of matches watchable for that oddly specific group of people, but tennis should just take that minor W and call it a day..
