Fyre Festival, A Good Time Or The Best Time?

Fyre Festival, a music festival on an island in The Bahamas put on by Ja Rule, was hyped with the below video. Some of the hottest models in the world prancing around on white beaches and chilling on yachts and stock footage of other music festivals — looks like a hell of a time.

The music fest targeted young influencers with money to blow. I read that people were paying upwards of 12 grand for VIP access on this trip? That’s a lot, but if you’re partying on a remote island in paradise with Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid, it seems worth it. They were also promised beachside “villas” and gourmet meals prepared by celebrity chef Steven Starr.

Let’s look at the accommodations.

The island has apparently descended into pure chaos. The “villas” are nothing more than USAID disaster relief tents, some of which aren’t even assembled, the food wouldn’t pass as elementary cafeteria food, the restrooms are porta potties, musical acts aren’t showing up, they forgot to order beer for the guests, in-bound flights are canceled, people aren’t allowed to de-plane, refunds are being handed out, the U.S. Embassy is now getting involved to ensure people are getting home safely. But as of now, they are stranded on a campsite from hell.

It’s essentially a temporary refugee sanctuary for people fleeing natural disaster areas. Except nothing bad happened where these people came from. They even paid to be there. It’s a total disaster on every front, and it’s hilarious to watch from afar.
