Let’s Get Weird: Cinco de Mayo

Screen Shot 2017-05-05 at 1.07.52 PM

It’s Friday, it’s Cinco de Mayo, and alcohol is readily available in the United States of America, so let’s get weird.

The proper way to make a margarita comes from a surprising source. From Producer Micah’s Making A Real Margarita Is As Easy As 3-2-1:

3 parts tequila, 2 parts lime juice, 1 part citrus (traditionally orange) liqueur. No simple syrup, no everclear, no fucking neon green pre-made mix from a plastic bottle. Nothing but 3-2-1.

Salted rim, over ice. I fully endorse this method. It’s THE way to make a margarita and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

“The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports” is this weekend. J-Bone is going. Now that the Masters has been crossed off my bucket list, I have my sights set on the Kentucky Derby. I have to go soon and I might even wear a bow tie since it’s the only setting a grown adult man should be allowed to wear one.

If you guys aren’t getting our newsletter, TFM Daily Minutes, I suggest giving it a try. It’s a great snapshot of the prior day’s content. I’m putting it together myself. I’m adding a couple quick summaries of the day’s news stories, Babe of the Day, pictures and videos from our Instagram feed, and links to our podcasts.

I’ll shoot you an email. I’ll bring some pop rocks to throw during your back swing.

We should do a grandex tournament at falconhead. Raffle off RG stuff. Yeti stuff. Get drunk and drop bombs on the #3 fairway

@bach he emailed me back. I brought up your idea in my reply. A TFM staff and commenter scramble would be cool.

Bach mentioned Falconhead which looks pretty nice. I really have no idea about any of the courses around that area since I’ve only been to Austin for a bachelor party and a Longhorn football camp when I was like in 7th grade.

Dorno hasn’t emailed me back. It seems like a lot of the TFM commenters are located here in Texas, so it would be pretty badass to have a golf scramble.

Can I come as well? I know Dorn wants to suck my dick but I’m usually busy as hell.

How disappointing. Tough to herald the content of this site as FAF when you do shit like this and come off looking like a bunch of pussy GDIs.

How else will she know I would let a midget hit me in the nuts with a wiffle ball bat to lick the leg curl machine at the gym after she is done using it?

Can’t go wrong with Citizen. Durable, decently priced and most of them look good.

Nixon’s leather sentry chronograph is decently priced and has some class. Seriously water resistant too.

Low end Movado. Around 350-500. No one will know it’s low end and they are known to be pretty nice. Usually the 800-1300 range

I’ll just copy/paste from a few days. Movado was a good answer, too.
“Just start with Citizen. Sharp, clean, good quality for price, and eco-drive is cool. And it’s an accessory a college student can afford. They don’t look cheap, yet don’t exude “spoiled shitbag” at your interview.”

Av8 are pretty good watches and look a little like Bell & Ross. Tissot has some nice watches below the $1k mark. Shinola, american made and look very good. Nixon, makes gaudy watches but they also make some simple subtle watches.

I’m attending an alumni event featuring the entirety of the nationals heads at which I am hoping to recruit a crew to engage in drunken tomfoolery later tonight, likely to their chagrin.

    Overrated/Underrated/Properly Rated

Playing video games as an adult
    Hummus
    Desert boots
    Ivanka Trump
    Bowling

Ivanka is unbelievably hot but I’m against pretty much everything she stands for politically. So that’s a tough call.

Video Games as an adult: underated. Video games are just like books except you control the main character and studies show that the dopamine and oxytocin released when completing a challenge in a game you’ve been playing are excellent ways to help combat depression. Also, and totally unrelated to all of that above, you can turn them into drinking games.

Hummus: depends. Store brand, pre packaged hummus is severely overrated but there’s this beautiful Arab fishing village in the south of Israel that had hummus so good I’m confident it could end the conflict in the Middle East if they could mass market it.

Desert boots: overrated in my opinion but that’s just because I don’t like the shape. Also my first thought when seeing them was “these would be useless in the desert” and I’ve never really recovered from that.

Ivanka Trump: jury is still out. Yes she’s hot and yes she’s pretty smart but it’s hard to say if someone is overrated or underrated when it’s nearly impossible to find an unbiased opinion on them in the first place.

Bowling: this exclusively depends on if the bar at the alley has good wings and fries.

You gotta take into account that desert boots were originally designed to be worn in the desert by british forces in ww2 though.

8 years ago at 4:52 pm
      2. CanadianB4C0N

That was the “these would be useless in the desert” comment. They just don’t look like they’d help in the desert.

    3. YouRussianBro

Im gonna say desert boots are overrated, because the subtle differences between chukkas and deserts help identify the discerning men who select the clearly superior chukkas. Also, knowing when to use ‘desert’ and ‘dessert’ is bullshit and Im not about it.

      Hummus: overrated
Playing video games as an adult: probably underrated though I’ve never done it
      Desert boots: underrated
Ivanka Trump: underrated. She’s got it going on.
      Bowling: drunk, underrated; sober, overrated.
