The Kansas City Royals’ season really couldn’t be going much worse. Despite an underwhelming 64-66 record, the team has currently been shut out in 43 straight innings, the longest laughable streak in franchise history and a mere five innings away from a new MLB record that nobody wants to own. If that wasn’t enough, the team received news on Tuesday that their star pitcher, Danny Duffy — already on the disabled list — was arrested for suspicion of DUI after allegedly passing out in a Burger King drive-thru. Yikes.

Oof. I love some good drunk food as much as the next guy, but Burger King? Come on. You’re a World Series-winning pitcher. DUIs are embarrassing enough for a star athlete; Getting busted at the BK Lounge just adds to it. You’re better than that. Have some respect and get the JBox tacos. Shit. Also, don’t drink and drive, moron.

I think it won’t be long before someone releases cell phone footage of the arrest. Judging by how many WorldStar vids are filmed at BKs, McDonalds, White Castles, and more around the nation, I can guarantee someone popped out their iPhone when they noticed the Royals pitcher getting the business. Apparently in Kansas you don’t automatically get locked up for DUIs, and Duffy was picked up by a friend.

Did I mention that like all of the Royals’ core players are set to be free agents after this year? It’s a tough time to be rocking those powder blue jerseys.
