Gronk Could Very Well Be The Next Big-Time Action Star If He Listens To The Rock And Sly Stallone
While some Philadelphians are still out there laying waste to their city for the second time in less than a week, it’s soul-searching time for the New England Patriots — especially for Rob Gronkowski.
Nothing’s set in stone yet, but the 28-year-old tight end hasn’t exactly worked hard to squash any spreading rumors that he’s been mulling over retirement.
In situations such as this that require a good deal of contemplation and consideration, it’s important to get advice from a variety of different perspectives. Family, friends, players, coaches.
But Gronk’s a meathead at his core, so all the advice in the world could be rendered meaningless if he didn’t have someone who could appeal to his meathead sensibilities giving it to him. Luckily, Gronk is acquaintances with two of the biggest meatheads out there: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Sylvester “Rocky” Stallone. They also happen to be two of the biggest action stars in the biz, and they think ol’ Gronkasaurus has what it takes to wine, dine, and 69 with the best of them as a certified Hollywood action star.
From Eagle-Tribune:
Gronkowski, nicknamed “Gronk,” has been told by two Hollywood superstars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Sylvester Stallone, that he could make millions of dollars in action films.
Gronkowski has told friends that the injuries have taken a toll on him.
So has the fact that his contract, which was “sweetened” last year, but is still team-friendly. He earned the top value this past season — $10.75 million — only because he was voted the top tight end in football (All-Pro).
Move over, Jean-Claude Van Damme; there’s about to be a new action movie legend in these parts, and his name is Rob-Gronk Van Gronk.
I’ll be honest: I wasn’t too sure what to make of Gronk’s movement towards the entertainment industry. I’ve seen clips from his Showtime comedy special and several other small things that he’s been in, and I couldn’t see him moving past the cameo role.
But the more I think about, the more I’m convinced that he would be perfect as an action star. He’s got the physique. He’d be right up there with Schwarzenegger when it comes to cheesy one-liners. Obviously “It’s 69 time” would be his catchphrase. Not to mention the fact that I couldn’t help but get hints of Liam Neeson when I listened to Gronk’s 911 call the other day.
The resemblance is uncanny.
I could watch Expendables movies starring Gronk, Sly, and The Rock until the end of time. And, judging from the route Hollywood’s going these days, I think I’ll be forced to..

My company is already negotiating a two-picture deal with Gronk. We’re going to remake “To Hell and Back” and “The Red Badge of Courage.” The latter should give Gronk the intellectual credibility that has thus far eluded him.
