College Basketball’s Top Programs Better Watch Out, Because The FBI Is Allegedly Coming For That Ass Any Day Now
It’s been a decade since The Wire graced our television screens for the last time, ending what is now lauded as one of the greatest shows ever created. It has been precisely half as long since I first discovered the show and subsequently started binging it one weekend in my freshman dorm room. I learned a lot of things from The Wire about ethics and the justice system, but perhaps the biggest lesson I took away was this: If you’re going to be a criminal, be extremely careful about how you facilitate your illicit business and be sure — be damn sure — to stay on top of it or the authorities will eventually catch you slipping.
It appears that there are a host of big-time college basketball coaches who never took the time to watch The Wire as I did, and now it’s going to cost them.
From Yahoo Sports:
The soundtrack to the three federal basketball corruption cases is essentially a ticking time bomb, which will inevitably explode. It will impact every major conference, Hall of Fame coaches, a score of current top players and some of the nation’s most distinguished and respected programs.
Multiple sources who’ve been briefed on the case and are familiar with the material obtained by feds told Yahoo Sports that the impact on the sport will be substantial and relentless. Sitting under protective order right now are the fruits of 330 days of monitoring activity by the feds, which one assistant US Attorney noted Thursday was “a voluminous amount of material.” That includes wiretaps from 4,000 intercepted calls and thousands of documents and bank records obtained from raids and confiscated computers, including those from notorious NBA agent Andy Miller
Remember when this all started months ago, and then it fizzled out after Rick Pitino was fired retired away to obscurity? Well, turns out that in the months that ensued — while we were fully locked in on football — the feds were knee-deep in evidence, building the fuck out of their case.
What were these guys thinking? Shred the documents, get rid of the hard drives, make any and all witnesses mysteriously disappear… this is day one shit. And don’t even get me started on the wiretapping. Ever heard of a burner, you idiots? Although if the coaches involved in this are the ones they’re hinting at (please be Duke, please be Duke, please…), then those crusty old men don’t know shit about getting rid of a paper trail.
Is it messed up that I’m so excited about these cheating bastards going down that I’m completely indifferent to the ramifications that may follow? We’ve known for a long time that the top schools have been doing some shady shit to get recruits to flip last minute. I mean, just look at the movie Blue Chips; that shit is older than I am. But never before has there been a direct link between the prominent coaches of college basketball’s elite teams and clear violations of the rules. It’s exciting to think that the most smug among us may finally fall from grace.
“This goes a lot deeper in college basketball than four corrupt assistant coaches,” said a source who has been briefed on the details of the case. “When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks won’t be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.”
Looks like the Ball bros making the move to Lithuania wasn’t such a bad move after all. Sounds like they may be gaining some company once shit hits the fan. Until then, I’m going to MyBookie.ag and betting heavily on some underdogs to win this year’s March Madness, because it looks like there’s a chance the top brass may be preoccupied..

How is Yahoo still a relevant source of information in 2018?
