It’s no secret that Darren Rovell is one of the biggest nerds in today’s sports media landscape. From what new fried Twinkie concoction your local minor league baseball team will be serving this season to where the Fab Five’s shorts were made, Rovell is the king of covering obscurity.

So when the Augusta area Hooters announced it was having a Miss Par 3 contest for the Masters, you knew D-Man wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a tweet off.

I know it doesn’t seem like much, but it’s all about understanding the man behind the handle. When Darren Rovell sees a Hooters restaurant, he gets excited. Full disclosure: I’ve never been to Hooters with Darren Rovell, but the experience can’t be too far off from this.

Need Rovell to cover this in-depth and give the world all the information nuggets we’re clamoring for. Like John Daly has housed 27 beers and chiefed no less than 14 cigarettes while Tiger has scampered off to the restroom with 7 waitresses.

Sure, the Masters is great and all, but the Miss Par 3 contest with Rovell at the wheel is the real draw.
