This Old, Little-Known, NSFW Song Is The Only One You’ll Need On May 1st

I’ll be honest: I haven’t the slightest idea how I came across this song, but it feels like it was many moons ago. It’s one of those smooth, seasonal jams I’ve heard a long while ago but can never seem to remember it when the time of year rolls around again. Well, I wanted to put that to a rest by writing a short article about it.

The song “First of May” is about as underrated as it gets. The smooth, relaxing tone of the acoustic guitar is soothing to anyone’s ears, but it’s the lyrics that really drive it home.

The artist, Jonathan Coulton, is clearly a genius. However, we shouldn’t underestimate just how much of a genius he is as Coulton is now a “in-house musician for NPR’s Ask Me Another.” Yes, the man who started singing about fucking a lady who sells ice cream now works for NPR. It’s a rise to fame only trumped by Jimmy Kimmel’s start on “The Man Show” and eventual ascension to influential late night talk show host on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” What a total finesse move.

Happy fucking outside, everyone.
