Del Mar College President Not Thrilled With Sex Cartoons Published In Student Newspaper

It seems that as a society we are getting more and more entrenched in a culture where every joke can be construed as offensive. And because of this, it is getting really hard to figure out when something is crossing the line.

Thankfully, a college in Texas is doing their part help clear things up. After an incident earlier this week involving their student newspaper, officials at Del Mar College want to make one thing abundantly clear. You can write about sex all you want, but don’t you dare draw it.

Our guy Mark is the Editor-in-Chief of a student-run newspaper, and as such he’s left to make some tough editorial decisions. It’s no secret that the print media landscape is in dire straights. You’ve gotta do what you gotta do to push product. Did he compromise his morals in publishing this smut? Hard to say. But now people are talking about it, so either way mission accomplished.

Give the kid some credit. The close-up cartoon of a dude muff-diving coupled with that headline is at least worth a glance. Like the professor said, this is his third or fourth time out. Gotta respect how he is starting to evolve his game. Real journalists publish questionably moral shit all the time. Mark was just catching up to the curve.

All Mark is guilty of is wanting to give his peers something to laugh at during exam week. And unless something has changed that I don’t know about, there’s still the first amendment. Dude can say what he wants. So let’s all cool it, because at the end of the day, how many people are really paying attention to the student paper at Del Mar College?
