Joey Votto Likes Being A Dick To St. Louis Uber Drivers

Just over a month into the Major League Baseball season and I’ve already noticed two things. For one, my preseason prediction of Giancarlo Stanton hitting 100+ home runs isn’t going to come true. Second, the Cincinnati Reds are absolutely terrible.

Like we all knew some teams like the Marlins and White Socks were going to blow, but I wasn’t expecting the Reds to be an absolute trash fest on a baseball field.

No matter how bad they are, one shining spot when it comes to the Cincinnati Reds is Joey Votto. It still boggles my mind and confuses me that someone from Canada can be so good at America’s pastime.

No matter how good Votto is on the field, it sounds like he’s an absolute asshole when it comes to his Uber drivers.

Votto notes that he’s “told many a St. Louis Uber driver” that it was Votto, not Pujols, who won the 2010 National League Most Valuable Player.

“Do you know Albert Pujols?” Votto says he asks the Uber driver.

“Oh yes, of course,” comes the inevitable reply.

“Well,” Votto says, “I beat him for the Most Valuable Player. He came in second to me.”

Look, Joey, as much as I normally support being a drunken asshole to cab drivers, this was probably a step too far. It was just some poor schmuck trying to make a few bucks by driving you from Busch Stadium to the bar after the game. Most likely he doesn’t give a shit. I guarantee you your Uber passenger rating takes a nosedive every time you do that.

There’s plenty of places for bragging, like on Tinder and in a courtroom in front of a judge. The back of an Uber, though, isn’t one of them. Stick to hitting home runs instead of trolling cabbies.
