Spring pledging is reserved for exceptions that are usually relatives of brothers or good friends of newly initiated brothers. It is most definitely a unique and fratty semester in which the pledging process is much more personal than the fall one full of new faces.
“Fratty” is absolutely right. When I pledged it was a Fall class, but I really enjoy seeing friends and relatives come through in the spring. Expanding your chapter = FaF
So basicly anyone can get a bid? If you don’t earn it its pointless. Also not having a football team has to be the gayest thing ever. Nothing beats fratting hard on game day geed.
Whenever I read this site, all I see is people bragging about their football teams and it seems that’s all they fucking care about. I go to school with about 11,000 undergrads, yes their are lower tier fraternities and upper tier fraternities. All I am saying is that I go to a school where being in Greek life means something other then a place to tailgate at your football games. My school frats harder then any other of the Geed schools in Virginia, especially Tech.
I can’t imagine having 50 pledge brothers. I guess it’s just different at some schools. When I came in, my class was 22. At the end of fall, it had narrowed down to 17. I feel like that was a respectable number. It was big enough to be fun, but small enough so that we all got to know each other really well. 3 years later, we are still a very tight knit group.
We also take between 4 and 8 spring pledges every year. Usually it’s guys who got pushed back or friends/relatives of fall pledges.
Numbers like that put the chapter at around 70-80 actives. That’s enough to fill a decent sized house. If you’re pulling 50 pledges in the fall, more power to you. I just can’t see myself enjoying it as much. I’m happy where my chapter is at.
Also, are you shooting a bid cannon and then dropping half the class, or are you actually initiating 40-50 pledges every fall? I know some houses give out bids like candy, then use the next week or so as “rush round 2” and make quick cuts after they’ve had more time to actually get to know the guys.
about 50% of our fall pledge classes turn into spring pledge classes. while i’ll admit that spring pledges are NF, holding over fall pledges is FaF. telling the school that “nationals requires our grades,” TFM.
Good chapters of top tier fraternities don’t take spring pledges.
14 years ago at 9:49 pmAgreed. Spring pledging = NF.
14 years ago at 9:54 pmHaving pledges year-round = continuous hazing = FaF

14 years ago at 10:19 pmIf you don’t have spring pledges than you’re just a shitty chapter of your fraternity that doesn’t understand the spring semester.

14 years ago at 10:27 amGood chapters of top tier colleges do. When you have anywhere from 10-25 people graduating after each semester you gotta have pledges to replace them.
14 years ago at 10:43 amYou have to have a spring rush class if you are a big chapter agreed
14 years ago at 11:53 amMy Frat has 118 initiated brothers, its impossible to keep your numbers up if you don’t pledge in the spring. Impossible.
14 years ago at 2:27 amYou’re not inherently fratty if you didn’t know enough to rush fall of freshman year..

14 years ago at 10:48 pmOver 50 percent of the school is Greek. 65 percent is female, plus we aren’t up a football teams ass.

14 years ago at 11:05 pmIsn’t greek life supposed to be elite? Sounds like a pretty lame school if over half the population is greek. Way to have no standards…
14 years ago at 11:14 pmbrostodamus do you go to depaw? if so that school is pretty fratty for indiana.
