If your a liberal and believe government spending, like a stimulus package, can right a recession than Reagan would have fixed the economy.. Not cause a recession, but naturally it’s politics as usual. However, If you understand economics, you should know that recessions and years of growth are cyclical and are largely unaffected by both fiscal and monetary policy. I think that’s rather evident now.

Wow, I’m rather disappointed for the lack of knowledge regarding the end of the Cold War. Reagan during his second term actually attempted plenty of constructive diplomacy with Gorbachev. To say the U.S. “beat” the Soviet Union in the Cold War through spending or manipulating oil markets disregards the complicated nature of geopolitics during this period. I suppose this could still be taken as a TFM, as not only did Reagan contribute to the fall of communism, but communism in and of itself was inherently ill-suited to succeeding in a globalized landscape.

One of the most contested issues during those “diplomatic meetings” was the implementation of the “Star Wars” missle shield. While we were years away from the technology, Reagan was TFTC and acted like we were already making it, giving him a powerful bargaining chip. Needless to say, the Russians spent a pretty penny when they thought the nuclear balance was shifting. On the other hand, Reagan did help encourage democratic reform, such as rights to free press and free trade. But anyways-Reagan is FaF… I still don’t get how he had a liberal shit of a son.
