No, I want to see if people actually know about his policies in office and what he did for the country and the world, I’m not going to “set the bar” so people can just be lazy and say “no, you’re obviously a gay-ass Liberal Communist” without any argument whatsoever. And by the way, the two comments above yours are hilarious and just solidify my point that people blindly suck his dick.
Okay CandC, fair enough. Reagan lowered the marginal income tax rate, which is obviously FaF. He lowered corporate tax rates and cut red tape regulation that spurred economic growth, slowed inflation and made cuts to several redundant gov’t departments. He used brinksmanship effectively against the Soviet Union so they began to set policy defensively because they were legitimately scared of what Reagan would do (in Afghanistan, etc.), unlike with previous presidents. He championed supply-side economics and led conservatives back onto the national stage, hence the term “Reagan Revolution.” Sure, there are people who don’t know what he did and simply idolize him as a conservative icon. But if you actually think he was a terrible president, you may not be a communist but you’re at least a liberal.
Reagan didn’t spur any growth. He actually signed in the largest peacetime tax hike in US history…so lowering corporate taxes is moot point. He advocated trickle-down policy, a stance that has proven wildly ineffective (and yet people have the audacity in Congress to talk about “cutting taxes for the job creators,” which is the most thinly-veiled Reaganomics I’ve ever seen). He tripled the national debt for crying out loud. This bastion of conservative principles granted fucking amnesty to almost 3 million illegal aliens (something Republicans wouldn’t DARE talk about today). While your spin is that he stopped conflict with the USSR, the reality is he funded Afghan militants and sold weapons to illegally Iran (one of whom we’ve been at war with for almost a decade, and the other might come to it). The same turban heads people lambast for being terrorists and Muslim extremists? Yeah, he was helping those guys. I’d be ashamed to associate myself with him as a goddamn conservative, he portrays NO fiscal responsibility or even international know-how.

Thank you!
Iran contra was an ugly situation, many just ignore/forget it. Demolition of USSR is also questionable, they didn’t know much on what was happening, it came as a surprise for many.
He was just lucky of being in time for its demise and getting the credit for it
God forbid someone tries to say something negative about this post.

14 years ago at 11:33 pmI think it was Barry Goldwater who said it, but either way FaF.
14 years ago at 8:33 pmBoth said it on separate occasions.
14 years ago at 8:52 pmWhen Goldwater said it in 1960 the actual quote was: “Where fraternities are not allowed, Keynesianism flourishes.”
