That 70-year-old neighbor who mows the lawn wearing loafers, khaki shorts, and a tucked in polo. TFM.

^ I wouldn’t be so quick to judge. My neighborhood growing up was very well off and quite a few of the neighbors (mainly Veterans) took pride in doing the landscaping themselves. It used to be an American tradition to have the family take pride in their lawns.

Seriously, what happened to the pussification of America? Get out there and get some dirt on your hands. Build some character.

Fratlas_Shrugged: This country was built on self-determination and doing things yourself when you can. My parents make quite a bit each year, enough we could easily afford a landscaper and people to do our odd jobs around the house. Dad and I do them ourselves though, because grandpa used to build houses and ran quite the successful real estate empire in the area back in the day and he learned the skills from his dad, just as I have now learned from him.

So, don’t be a bitch. Get out there, get dirty and do a hard days work. It helps keep perspective so we don’t forget the things that made this country great.

    4. Having the money but choosing to do it yourself TFM. Like Bronan said we have the money but my lawn is MY lawn, I take pride in making it look nice.

Knowing how to and being able to do your own house and yard work just means you’re self-sufficient. That is FaF

The best part about your statement, Fratlas_Shrugged, is that the book your user name is a parody of is all about having pride in your own efforts. So either you’ve never read the book or you are not intelligent enough to have understood it.

To save myself from any kitchen comments- I read while I’m waiting for the cupcakes to cool 🙂

I bet Fratlas_Shrugged has never read anything by Rand or any book in general.
