And Obama ditching his presidential duties midst extreme economic turmoil to vacation in Martha’s Vineyard

Considering he’s taken substantially less vacation time than Bush, and the economic signs are stronger than when Bush was in office…not a big deal.

CandC, you are retarted if you think that this ass clown is doing a better job or influenced a better economy. All he does is bitch about how he inherited the economy but if he was so badass why hasn’t he fixed it. Oh wait, I forgot all about his genius stimulus plan

I’m confused as to why you don’t think the stimulus plan wasn’t effective to some degree. All you’re doing is throwing insults without backing up anything, typical for this site though.

To be fair, he did inherit a REALLY shitty economy.

CandC, Bush went to Crawford. Where he could have peace, and could at least get work done there. It was his home away from home. Obama was staying in a Martha’s Vineyard house that cost anywhere from $35000 to $50000 a week. He’s also played like 90 rounds of golf in the fugliest cargos and secondhand footjoys. And when he came into office, he said he was going to do something about the economy. All he has done is waste more, as well as increase deficit spending. Here are some pictures so it doesn’t fuck your dumb mind up too much. http://blog.heritage.org/2011/07/28/the-truth-about-obamas-budget-deficits-in-pictures/

    6. CandC

Arguing where he went and what he could have possibly gotten done are irrelevant, Bush still took more days off. Personally I don’t really care if Obama played 10 more rounds of golf than Bush, it’s still a shitton of golf either way. And as for the deficits…yeah no shit, that’s what happens when you don’t raise taxes. However, the deficit isn’t at all a clear picture for the state of the economy.

14 years ago at 5:28 pm
    7. Fratweiser

You’re right, why don’t we just give everybody in the US free health care to fix the deficit

14 years ago at 5:47 pm
    8. 993

No, you get that deficit by spending money you don’t have on shit we don’t need. And I think there is a big difference between going to Martha’s Vineyard and going to Crawford, Texas. It says something. It’s not even as much that he’s spending $50k a week on a vacation home (that’s our tax dollars. Top 50% of income earners account for 96% of income taxes, top 25% account for 65%, top 5% account for 54%), it’s that he spent it in an area of immense wealth (which would be FaF if it wasn’t my money) while Bush spent it on his ranch in Crawford. And Bush played 24 times during his 8-year presidency and was mocked heavily by the left. Obama is topping 80 in 4 years.

14 years ago at 8:54 pm
    9. CandC

Boohoo we have to pay taxes. Get over it. We wouldn’t have such a deficit if the top quartile and corporations payed more.

CandC you’re a fucking retard. We’d have more jobs if the corporate tax rate wasnt so damn high. Why else do you think that we have so much outsourcing in this country. If we lowered the tax rate for corporations then they would be able to hire more Americans.

Pshhh, you christians are so dumb.

At least pretend you give a shit about the bible.

If you are going to follow the gay is immoral part, you should read the rest of those verses in Romans. They are 1. A man should not lie with another man, you should not were clothes of mixed fabrics, eating shrimp is an abomination.

Not to mention the part where Jesus said the meek shall inherit the earth, and that you should give away all your wealth to the poor.

But oh, lets just ignore those parts…

You are skirting around the question.

Jesus demanded that all faithful shall give up all their earthly possessions to the poor. Jesus himself commanded it.

Why do you not do it?

14 years ago at 1:15 pm
    12. CaptainBrohab

Jesus asks for generosity and charity. However I think he would completely agree that people who do not work on their own accord, or are trying to use the system for food stamps and welfare, and expect handouts all the time, do not deserve all of our money. Greed may be a deadly sin but so is sloth.

And for the record, us Christians are fully aware of these things. We are also aware that we are not perfect, we can only hope to do the best we can and live the best way possible. We know that we will sin, and we ask forgiveness when we do.

Now take your misinterpretations of the Bible and go elsewhere. You are being no better than the people that you hate.

^^white or wheat? The government is also not the best vehicle for helping the poor, private charity and the church are. There is nothing unchristian about not wanting to see your money wasted, and the government tends to eat money in paperwork that could be avoided with a good choice of private charity.

Wow, how very arrogant of you. I can not believe you assume to know what an all powerful God “was really saying”. So to conclude my argument, I leave you with this.

“Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him. ”

This one applies to most people on this site: “A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. ”

And this one doesn’t sound like Jesus is putting any qualifiers on it. “Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

““Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ”

But its cool. I am sure you are fooling God by just saying you are a Christian.

Srat I never said anything about giving money to the government. I agree, a big waster of money.

I am merely pointing out the hypocrisy of calling oneself Christian yet not following the teachings of Jesus.

But keep trying to fool god by calling yourself a Christian. I am sure he appreciates it. 😉

I don’t think any of that means we have to buy in to a system we don’t think is helping. Being reckless with money is also a sin akin to gambling and if you think that the government is not actually going to help the poor, then just throwing money at them does not really qualify as charity. PS- Jesus taught in parables so I’m pretty sure the Bible is open to interpretation in some points. IE there probably were some single men with no family that gave their all to the poor and followed him, but in today’s world there are few people who have no family whatsoever that would be damaged by them just abandoning it all. And for that wealth to be given, it must first be created. If everyone spent their time trying to give away everything they had instead of creating resources like we should do it we take that literally, we would run out of things to give. Off the soapbox and into the recipe box 🙂

The camel thing is pretty explicit. But if “interpreting” the bible makes you feel better, than I guess I can not make you follow a holier life.

Perhaps one day, you shall join me on the path to righteousness.

hahahaha well there was no greek system back then so we’ll cut him some slack, he’s a non-greek not a GDI ;). He turned water into wine so I’d have bid for him, and discipleship sounds a lot like what being a greek means to me; we learn from those older than us, give help where a brother/sister needs, and try to be examples for other chapters or non-greeks.

yes, selling all you have to devote your life to helping the needy is a great way to demonstrate God’s love, and any christian should regularly give time/money to charity BUT, once again, if we do not first work to have something to give we will never be able to begin that process. It is possible to be a devoted christian and not be perfect; you do not have to sell everything to be a good christian, you must simply give where you find need and be as selfless as possible. since you seem to have such strong feelings why don’t you go be the next example? until you have that plank out of YOUR eye, please refrain from judging everyone else’s.

    3. Look scbro91, clearly you are on the wrong site. We wouldn’t even mind you being here if you didn’t continuously bash everything we hold near and dear such as religion and politics. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion even shitheads like you but why do you even do this? Its ridiculous, I don’t go on atheist sites and bash and condemn and I’m pretty sure no other gentleman on here do either. You sure do talk a lot of shit for an anonymous website.

So do you. The reason you do not go to atheist websites is because your arguments would be torn up instantly.

You know that finding true knowledge will cause you to lose your bronze age belief system.

      I actually pity you.

Not to mention satire and ridicule is perfectly acceptable as gentlemanly conduct according my book “The Culture of Honor in the Old South”.

    5. The reason I don’t go on atheist websites is because I don’t care what they believe in. This is America. Anyone can believe anything they want to. I respect them enough to let them live their own live the way they want to. I don’t feel the need to harass people of another religion or lack of religion. Maybe because I feel pretty fulfilled as a Christian.
