You can be in the 0.01% and know everyone but unless you do good in school you will never do anything for yourself — I could inherit all the money in the world but if I don’t stake my own fortune I would never be happy.
Regardless of who you know, if you don’t pull off a decent GPA then you’ll be a failure. Someone lazy enough to get less than a 3.0 will eventually get fired or run a business into the ground.
