Yes and it is just this attitude that has put America into several costly wars, destroying our economy, bigger government, and a larger hatred towards us. Cannot wait to go to war with the next country that threatens us and be in even more of trillions of dollars into debt…..
You are an idiot. I’ll im saying is that we need to listen to Ron Paul and change our foreign policy before we fuck our economy up even more, There is no reason to be spending trillions of dollars to help rebuild Iraq and be in Afghanistan.
True, but the government is giving those soldiers jobs which they use to buy American made products, thus stimulating the economy. If they choose to move onto other jobs further on in life, the income tax and further stimulation of the economy could out weigh the cost of their military salaries.
Even though some unnecessary money is spent overseas, we are still maintaining our place as the dominant military force in the world. The military also works to help other countries which have many resources which we need. Having a good relationship with a country containing resources that we desire is always a good thing.
The real government investment in the military is put into thousands of hours of researching and prototyping new weapons and vehicles. Those weapons and vehicles save American lives overseas.
If we werent overseas, those soldiers would still have jobs and we could still do weapons research. Those two countries hate us and being there does more harm than good. Basically you’re just a moron.
Yeah cheif, you got me. The countries that have oil have complete monopoly over the price so it’s not like having them on our good side is a bad thing. Weapons research would be unnecessary without the military, except for hunting. How do you like living in a country that you don’t love?
If we weren’t overseas, how the fuck would those soldiers still have jobs? Would they find jobs that all the current unemployed must have not been able to find? On another note, a big part of the reason we’re in Iran is for personal safety. If we weren’t there, terrorist camps and nuclear research would go about at a much more rapid rate. Iran’s government documents and constitution call for the destruction of America. They have stated they would use nuclear weapons against us, so to pretend they will be happy if we just left would be foolish. I wish I could believe ron paul’s foreign policy and not spend that money and risk those troops lives. But the fact is that in the world we live in, jihadist muslims get off on killing and causing destruction to us, and it is in the interest of our national security to keep them from being destructive to us in the future.
Those soldiers would still have the option to enlist or re-enlist. It’s a volunteer army. We’re not in Iran. We’re in Iraq. There would be some security concerns about a leadership vacuum leading to an environment that fostered radical elements. That’s a moot point when your supposed “allies” like Pakistan and SA do nothing to stomp out terrorism in their own backyard.
We aren’t getting much oil from Iraq because no one is. OPEC itself is pretty splintered between countries who realize that Iran, Venezuela and their ilk are retards and some countries without their heads up their asses. Us more or or less occupying Iraq (not as much now) and Afghanistan just galvanizes less radical aspects of the Islamic world against us. Trust me, I would personally curb stomp any enemy of the state, irrespective of religion, but it’s largely counterproductive in this scenario.
Weapons testing can be done without actively fighting wars on multiple fronts. No one says we can’t break out the latest and greatest in scenarios of our own choosing and at our own discretion.
Well put, but there would be a way smaller market for arms with out our military fighting over seas. We invest in weapons companies so we can have the most up to date weapons as possible, but if we weren’t at war who would be funding the development of these guns?
^We still pay for research regardless of whether we’re actually in a major war or not at any given time. You’ll notice we weren’t still using the same technology from the first gulf war to when we invaded Afghanistan. What is true is that it is unbelievably expensive to house, arm and train soldiers as well as Iraqis. That money and the money that we spent building Iraqi and Afghani infrastructure is never coming back to the United States even if it was built by American companies.
Another problem is that Iraq didn’t have any terrorists when we invaded. Saddam hated them as much as we do. While he was an evil fuck who deserved to die he was a secular leader who was all about stability in the region, terrorists were unstable and he wanted them the hell out of his country. If this was truly a War on Terror then it was pretty counterproductive.
All of you are idiots for only thinking about Canada and Mexico. You realize there are TWO CONTINENTS, along with Central America, that have the word “America” in them (North and South America).
This means that the U.S.’s level of TFTC is even higher than the original post.
There are other countries?
