Aaron Hernandez Is Ranked Higher In ESPN Fantasy Leagues Than Several Current NFL Players
Are you looking for a ringer for this year’s fantasy season? Finding the crop of sleepers can be hard, but thanks to ESPN, there’s plenty of talent available in the low ranks.
Convicted murderer and former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is still an option, at an underrated rank of 1,143. Yes, your fantasy team is better off drafting the man convicted of shooting a semi-pro football player to death execution-style than drafting current Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn (rank: 1,496), according to ESPN.
He’s even better than current New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells, who had four touchdowns last year and has a chance to be the team’s starter. He is still ranked more than 300 spots lower than Hernandez.
To be fair, Hernandez has had a hell of an offseason. In between prison fights and pumping those jailhouse weights, he’s stayed out of the federal courtroom more than NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. That’s probably why 0.4 percent of ESPN users have decided to add Hernandez to their team. He’s the starter for 0.1 percent of them.
A writer for USA Today’s For The Win did some digging on other sites:
Neither Yahoo! nor CBS offers Hernandez to fantasy owners. He wasn’t listed among the 1,144 names on Fox Sports either. And of the 156 tight ends available for drafting on NFL.com, Hernandez was a forgotten, ignored man, as he should be.
Forget Hernandez if you want, but he’s listed as probable for Sunday’s matchup and my viable tight end options are scarce.
Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison without parole in April for the at least one of the murders we know he’s committed. But goddamnit does he not have great hands and an impeccable work ethic? A true must-draft sleeper for all keeper leagues. Thanks, ESPN..

10 years ago at 3:49 pmI bet those were all women who drafted him because they forced their way into their husband/boyfriend league.
10 years ago at 11:07 amWhile I get what your saying most women spend their time at home with the tv on the news channel. They would at least know he’s in jail and a piece of shit.
