Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Hates Fat Chicks
On my lunch break I’m heading down the street to the mall to pick up a pair of those badass tattered jeans that look like they were tied to the rear bumper of a car and dragged through the streets for a few years. They’re about to come back in style in a big, big way, and I wanna jump out in front of the trend so I’m not some kind of poser. How do I know? Because Abercrombie & Fitch is back, and it’s not just for the kids anymore.
A&F CEO Mike Jeffries explained to Business Insider that he not only tries to market his clothing to “cool” and “good-looking” people, but that he doesn’t even want fat chicks coming into his stores.
From Elite Daily:
“He doesn’t want larger people shopping in his store, he wants thin and beautiful people,” Lewis said. “He doesn’t want his core customers to see people who aren’t as hot as them wearing his clothing. People who wear his clothing should feel like they’re one of the ‘cool kids.’”
A&F doesn’t carry XL or XXL sizes in women’s clothing.
Okay, this next comment is only because of his stance on ugly people: A&F CEO Mike Jeffries legitimately looks like his face caught on fire and someone tried to put it out with a baseball bat.
He also dresses like this kid I used to make fun of in 7th grade.
“In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids,” he told the site. “Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely. Those companies that are in trouble are trying to target everybody: young, old, fat, skinny. But then you become totally vanilla. You don’t alienate anybody, but you don’t excite anybody, either,” he told Salon.
It’s hard to argue with the man’s strategy. A&F has been around a long time. They have to be slinging all kinds of cargos, tight shirts and frayed jeans. Those mall rats that walk around like miniature urban thugs, drinking slushies and intimidating 12-year-olds in the arcade have to wear something.
Abercrombie’s stock climbed 6.33% on Tuesday after Jeffries’ “no fat chicks” quotes were released. Sly like a fox.
Despite being a complete asshole and dressing like an even bigger one, I respect his business sense. I don’t hate fat chicks or anything; I just love the guy’s attitude.

He looks like an older Dorn got stung in the face by a bee and had an allergic reaction.
12 years ago at 11:30 amA&F sucks, but everyone makes mistakes. You better not get caught wearing A&F after your first semester in college though.
12 years ago at 11:39 amI actually found a picture of this guy’s parents online.

I got drunk and went home with a fat chick once a bunch of times.

12 years ago at 2:23 pmIt’s too bad this guy’s company is queer as all get out because he has a great philosophy. This whole ” fat people are beautiful ” trend that’s going on is downright disgusting. It’s a shame that we try and tell obese girls that they look as good skinny girls do. Lets face it you’re not attractive and unless you lose weight you never will be. If more corporations took a stand against this like this Abercrombie guy, America would be a better place.
12 years ago at 2:43 pmSaw a bunch of girls post this on Facebook, each with comments like “what a pig” “throwing out all my Abercrombie” or “this is disgusting”, but I read the article in question and immediately thought to myself “That makes a lot of sense. Not a bad business strategy, and it fits with their brand”
12 years ago at 3:10 pmHe obviously wasn’t one of the “cool” kids he so badly wants to attract now. He got a little power and now he thinks he isn’t one of the ugly ones.
