Air Force Vet Arrested For Taking Flag From Protestors, May Be A Hypocrite

A female Air Force veteran who is also a hot model is not a person you come across every day. She may have the looks to model, but she isn’t scared of kicking your ass if need be. Michelle Manhart got into a bit of a scuffle with protesters and police on the campus of Valdosta State University this past Friday. By the end of it all, she found herself cuffed in the back of a Valdosta State University police Charger.

The incident was caught on video — in very shitty quality — and posted online yesterday.

According to Michelle, she was was aware of the group’s recent protests and made her way to campus after a student informed her that they were desecrating the flag. When the police attempted to return the flag to the protestors, all hell broke loose.

From Valdosta Daily Times:

“I did not want anything like this, but I got a call from a student who told me that the flag was on the ground, and they were walking on it,” said Manhart. “I was just going over there to pick up the flag off the ground. I don’t know what their cause is, but I went to pick it up because it doesn’t deserve to be on the ground.”

As seen in the video, Michelle put up a helluva fight to keep the flag from ending up back in the hands of the scum who chose to walk across it. While no video exists of the actual protestors walking on the flag, a photo was posted online that appears to show one of the men in the video walking across a flag.

What an asshat. The group chose not to be identified or to state their cause — it is believed to be something related to racial issues. The only clue they gave was a statement overheard by a reporter.

One member of the group who declined to speak with The Valdosta Daily Times or identify himself told a VSU student that putting the American flag on the ground and walking on it was “a symbol of our protest. When a slave understands his situation and understands he doesn’t want to be in slavery, he does not respect or revere anything his slavemaster has put in front of him.”

The protestors and police elected not to press charges against Michelle, and she was free to leave after receiving a ban from the VSU campus.

While this story seems great at first, a photo has been appearing on social media that seems to show Michelle may be a hypocrite. The photo is allegedly from one of Michelle’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” nude photo shoots for an old PETA ad campaign.

Interesting, right?

I have been unable to 100 percent confirm the photo is of Manhart, yet the tattoos match those seen in a video she filmed for PETA in conjunction with the photo campaign. Either way, it adds yet another interesting dynamic to the story.

Patriotism, boobs, and hypocrisy. Damn, I’m torn.

    The problem is that you’re not looking at the intent behind the respective actions. She is wearing the flag because she knows that America is still sexy as fuck even in her 239th year. These “protestors” are just angry because they have failed the American system. Pathetic.

    Unpopular opinion incoming.

    Desecrating the American flag in protest is a constitutionally protected act. Attempts to change the law to punish those who break the flag code have been repeatedly struck down by the supreme court. I don’t want to live in a country where flag desecration is illegal because I think it’s the beginning of a slippery slope that leads to totalitarian governments who tolerate no opposition.

    As much as I may think the guys in this video are idiotic pieces of shit, it is their constitutional right to walk on the American flag in protest (as long as the flag belongs to them.) And as much as I want to be on this woman’s side, her misguided attempt to “save” the flag is not only attempted theft, but also a violation of the protesters’ rights.

    Countries where flag desecration is illegal: Russia, China, Serbia, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia…

    Countries where flag desecration is legal: Sweden, Norway, Canada, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, The United States…

    I think I know which list I’d rather be on.

      2. I know but you are taking about lists and which one we should be on. We may not be on the list that restricts flag burning, but we are on the list with the some of the worst countries on some matters too. Which list is correct or wrong, I don’t know.

        It’s a pretty big false equivalency though.. yeah the US has capital punishment like China and North Korea, but North Korea kills political dissidents by the thousands, and china executed over 1000 prisoners last year alone. For comparison, in 2014 the US carried out 35 capital punishments.. all of which were preceded by fair trials and probably decades of appeals.

    It makes no sense to disrespect the flag but the flag stands for the people that gave their lives for freedom so that we could live in a country where we can do that. I’d rather see people disrespect the flag than get locked up for protesting (even if the protest is fucking retarded).

    The problem here is that these protesters are mistaken in assuming that disrespecting the flag is synonymous with disrespecting the government. The flag stands for the American people, and by shitting on it, they’re making us hate them and now we’ll never support whatever it is that they’re bitching about.

    I like this piece of news because it doesn’t show bias towards “Mercia”. I agree that what she did isn’t near as bad contextually, but cuddos to TFM for adding the part about her being a possible hypocrite. There can always be two sides to a story.
