Alabama Fan Camps Out 103 Hours For Fan Day

One of the things I don’t miss from my freshman days is having to camp out (unwillingly, of course) to secure tailgate passes for my fraternity. I’ve never really understood camping out for something. Unless you’re forced, why sit outside waiting around just to say you were first?

Bama fans love their football, though, and they typically aren’t normal people–think Harvey Updyke, or the fans who used Nick Saban as a Christmas tree topper. Bobby Hunter is no different. With Alabama Fan Day coming up on Sunday, he set up shop outside Bryant-Denny a cool 103 hours prior to the gates opening.

Alabama Fan Day is a day that allows fans to watch Nick Saban work his magic at practice. I have a feeling it’s like a scene out of “Junction Boys,” only about 100 times worse. After practice wraps up, fans can get some autographs from the players. They tried this at SMU once, but the players didn’t even show up. Maybe that’s why they’re so terrible.

You can find Hunter camping out with a cooler and a sign that explains he missed last year but he’s making up for it now. In classic Alabama fashion, the bottom of the sign reads “To all Bama fans: If you want to go to heaven and walk the streets of gold just remember the password Roll Tide Roll.”
