All-Time Great Runaway Golf Cart GIF Now A Lawsuit

Remember this scene from Dallas Cowboys Stadium during the Texas high school state championship playoffs in 2011, where a utility cart got bored, decided to head for midfield and just start mowing people down? As a reminder, here’s the .gif of the incident, which, in my opinion, is one of the more entertaining of all time. Top 10 even.

That version sucks, but you can CLICK HERE for a much better one. So much happening there, and because there were no serious injuries, I love watching it.

As it turns out, the man in the blue shirt and khaki pants — who takes this possessed EZ-GO for a long ride before executing a beautiful tuck-and-roll maneuver — is the father of New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola. Alfred “Willie” Amendola was the coach for the Dekaney Wildcats, and although he didn’t sustain any real injuries from this 20 MPH demonized death trap, his ego got bruised up something nasty.

He now wants to cash in because of it.

[Amendola] is suing Cowboys Stadium LP for $1 million, citing the “great personal embarrassment” he sustained after he was mowed down by a runaway golf cart at the stadium in 2011.

Alfred “Willie” Amendola was humiliated, but not badly hurt, when he was “struck, without warning, by a motorized cart, which employees … failed to exercise proper control over.

I really don’t even know what there is to be embarrassed about. You gotta own this one. Mr. Amendola rode this cart like a boss, just riding dirty:

There are a few other awesome things going on that I’d like to bring attention to.

1. This guy comes out of nowhere and runs a 4.4 flat to chase the cart down and prevent it from killing a small child or old lady that had wandered onto the field. Look at those wheels. This dude could be a Cowboys special teams badass.

2. This chick impresses with a really athletic hurdle over a fallen soldier, but then it’s like, c’mon, sweetheart. We all know you’re not about to save the day here.

3. No big deal, just a $4,000 camera lens bouncing down the field like an NFL-caliber end-over-end punt.

4. This guy is my favorite. He’s like, “Oh shit yes. This is it. Here’s my chance to save the day and become a national hero.” He starts running at the cart as if to stop it, but then he nuts up and throws on his own brakes in a “Nah, fuck this shit!” way. He just bails. Can’t say I blame him, though. That was one pissed off cart.
