Alpha Tau Omega At University Of South Carolina Gets Booted By Nationals
Alpha Tau Omega at the University of South Carolina received a letter from nationals yesterday informing them that they are no longer a part of the organization. To my knowledge, this makes the chapter the first casualty in what I’m sure will be a sopping wet year for the long hard dick of fraternal law.
ATO Nationals is so eager to bend chapters over, they even made a letter template for such occasions. Unfortunately, they forgot to replace “[INSERT]_FIRST_NAME” with the names of the chapter members. Good Lord. At least ACT like you give a fuck about the people in your organization.

The reasons for shutting them down are as farcical as usual. “Risk management violations, deceptive communications from the colony to the National Fraternity and the colony’s decision to continue to engage men in the colony who had been removed.”
I guess they’re technically still a colony, not a chapter. But ATO has been at USC forever. They’re in the process of re-establishing after getting in trouble a few years ago. Usually how these things work is, most of the initiated brothers will be kicked out, leaving the pledges and a select few initiates to rebuild as a colony. But you still hang out with the guys who got kicked out. They don’t just cease to be your friends. That’s why the whole “decision to engage men in the colony who had been removed” thing is horse shit.
The risk management violations include serving alcohol during rush events last fall (which almost every fraternity at USC got in trouble for) and “sketch cash.” Not sure what “sketch cash” means, but I assume it means they spent money on naughty things without telling Nationals about it (that would also explain the “deceptive communications”).
Also, it’s probably nothing, but Spurrier was an ATO. I wonder if he was bailing the chapter out, and now that he’s gone, the chapter’s safety net left with him.
There are plenty of chapters out there that deserve to get the boot, but based on these allegations, I don’t think USC ATO was one of them. R.I.F..

Also spurrier was an honorary ATO right before they were booted back in the day, so it’s not like he was really that attached to the colony at all.

I had got some decent memories in my required tour of duty , but really it just creates a numbers game to fill the frat with goobers to live there because no rational human can stand more than a semester. the ato house was the first in “village” and as pledges we were required to sneak across the street and shit in the snu house until in was finished being built. good times.
