America Went Ahead And Took Out ISIS Leader With Deadly Drone Strike

U.S Drone Reportedly Kills ISIS Leader Because We're America And We Do Dope Shit

What a week it has been for the United States of America. First, we celebrate our freedom while the Air Force kept Russian bombers from ruining the party. Next, we go out and walk all over Japan in the World Cup final. Now, we just took out one of the top leaders of ISIS with a drone strike on Tuesday.

From Kens 5:

Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews, citing the National Directorate of Security (NDS), reported that Shahidullah Shahid died Tuesday in an attack in Nangarhar Province, eastern Afghanistan.

“It was confirmed today that a senior leader of IS group for Khorasan region, Shahidullah Shahid, has been killed in a drone strike,” the NSA said Thursday, according to Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune. Another 24 militants were killed in the strike, the paper added.

The United States didn’t have a comment on the strikes. Taking the “act like we’ve been there before” approach. I love it. Stay humble, stay hungry.

Listen up, ISIS. We can continue to play these games, but at this point we aren’t even trying and still winning. There’s still time for you guys to bow gracefully out of this clearly one-sided competition.

While taking out their leaders certainly does help, just remember how many times we’ve seen this before. We can keep killing their leaders, but there will always be another crazed jihadist to take his place. There has to be a more effective approach to removing this stain while still preventing American deaths. This is why I say we should arm and train the Kurds who are fighting for their homeland. While it certainly won’t be perfect, it’s at least better than our current strategy of containment.

That’s how Bin Laden and Al-Quaeda got weapons and training in the 70’s and 80’s. The enemy of my enemy isn’t always a good philosophy.

Except the Kurdish people and the extremist Sunni Muslims in ISIS are completely unrelated.

This is a different scenario involving different people. Granted, I said this isn’t a perfect option. The Kurdish people and Turkey have always been at odds, due to Turkey’s habit of harassing all of it’s neighbors. Thus there is a good chance this option would hurt our relationship with Turkey (a logistically crucial ally against Russia), and there would likely be greater PKK influence in the region, which also isn’t great.

You have to weigh these concessions against what we will lose by containing ISIS while letting Iraqi and Iranian forces chip away at ISIS territory. ISIS has already destroyed the heritage sites of Nimrud, Khorsabad, al-Hadr, the burial site of the prophet Jonah, all the knowledge and archaeological findings in the Mosul Museum/Library, as well as various ruins across Syria. It isn’t long until they destroy Palmyra as well. Then there are the costs of lives- of ISIS inspired attacks on foreign soil. How many of these are acceptable before arming the Kurdish people becomes the lesser of the two evils?

I don’t know if you can read, but the article said the strike took place in eastern Afghanistan, the Kurdish people live in Iraq, Syria, Turkey (they don’t have the organization for mass training, nomadic people in tribes essentially)… “Containment” is really a Cold War term… Maybe a slap to the heads of our allies to pull some of the weight in this “fight” (beat down) we are delivering to ISIS

I don’t know if you have basic comprehension skills, but arming the Kurdish people who live, as you said, in Iraq and Syria would help fight ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of IRAQ and SYRIA.

Additionally, how can you say we are “beating down” ISIS? We’re not. The U.S. ambassador to Iraq estimates that 6,000 fighters have been eliminated thus far, granted there is no official count and that report was from just over a month ago, but they continue to gain recruits, continue to carry out terror attacks and inspire others to do so, and continue to desecrate ancient cultures and peoples in the Iraqi/Syrian region.

We all can agree that exporting freedom around the world is the most American thing there is, but you may be getting ahead of yourself with the whole geed thing.
