Amid a prodigious reporting clusterfuck that has left Rolling Stone waddling in its own shit, the University of Virginia has decided to reinstate all fraternity and sorority activities for the spring semester. The November article recounted a horrific gang rape that allegedly occurred inside the Phi Kappa Psi house, as told by Jackie, the alleged victim.

In the fallout of the publication of the article, all fraternities and sororities were suspended by the university while the incident was investigated. However, an egregious mishandling of the report, in which many discrepancies were detected, has led to the university’s decision to lift the suspensions for the spring semester.

In a joint statement released by the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee, the National Panhellenic Conference, and the North American Fraternity Conference, the University of Virginia was urged to reinstate all fraternities and sororities.

From NICindy.org:

Finally, we call on the University of Virginia to immediately reinstate operations for all fraternity and sorority organizations on campus, to issue an apology for its actions of the last two weeks, to publicly explain and release all records for the basis of its decision to suspend our organizations, and outline what steps it will take to restore the reputation of our groups and students at UVA.

The university responded Monday and announced the suspension lifts, per the Los Angeles Times.

On Monday afternoon, the school released a statement saying fraternity and sorority activites [sic] would resume on Jan. 9.

A university spokesman revealed that reinstating all Greek activities in January was in their original plan.

Hoaxer is probably in debt 200k to UVA for a women’s and gender studies degree and I doubt garnishing wages from the “journalist” is going to pay for more than the payments on a 328i. There should be public humiliation for this kind of shit.

Then they’re just leeches on the state for the rest of their lives. I think you can only garnish 25% of someone’s disposable income, which kind of makes sense.

Its a good message to send but no point in suing someone who wont be able to get a job for the next 5 years.

Are you implying that a successful company would hire a compulsive lier with a rape obsession? Fairly bold claim.

Good. The reporter/editor/entire rolling stones news team who collaborated to release this article should be fired.

Universities need to stop jumping the gun of these things and support THEIR students when it comes to the reputation of their future alumni

Absolutely. My cousin went to UVA some twenty years ago and wasn’t Greek, but still when I saw him at Thanksgiving he wasn’t pleased at all. Usually we banter about everyone’s alma matter but he didn’t want a part of that this year. UVA is an incredibly respectable school, hundreds of thousands of alumni at their offices suddenly went from being highly respected to “the guy from the rape school.” Contrary to what many feminists believe it is the responsibility of the university to defend itself, because it is in turn defending everyone to ever set foot through its doors.

The university should be ashamed for not performing proper due diligence in the first place. What a bunch of crap.

Makes you wonder if anyone will give 1 cent of their hard earned post graduation money on the school that turned its back on its students the second things looked bad

    Should include:

A: Formal apology from the University, and it’s feminist president.

    B. An apology from Rolling Stone.

    C. A resignation from the batshit crazy author.

    D. An unmerciful lawsuit against “Jackie”/Author.

    E. Immediate investigation into the vandals of the fraternity house.

I heard that Sabrina Erderly gang raped people in college. No need to check the validity of that statement. It’s true.
