Amid Rolling Stone’s Shoddy Reporting Fiasco, UVa Announces The Lift Of Fraternity And Sorority Suspensions In January
Amid a prodigious reporting clusterfuck that has left Rolling Stone waddling in its own shit, the University of Virginia has decided to reinstate all fraternity and sorority activities for the spring semester. The November article recounted a horrific gang rape that allegedly occurred inside the Phi Kappa Psi house, as told by Jackie, the alleged victim.
In the fallout of the publication of the article, all fraternities and sororities were suspended by the university while the incident was investigated. However, an egregious mishandling of the report, in which many discrepancies were detected, has led to the university’s decision to lift the suspensions for the spring semester.
In a joint statement released by the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee, the National Panhellenic Conference, and the North American Fraternity Conference, the University of Virginia was urged to reinstate all fraternities and sororities.
From NICindy.org:
Finally, we call on the University of Virginia to immediately reinstate operations for all fraternity and sorority organizations on campus, to issue an apology for its actions of the last two weeks, to publicly explain and release all records for the basis of its decision to suspend our organizations, and outline what steps it will take to restore the reputation of our groups and students at UVA.
The university responded Monday and announced the suspension lifts, per the Los Angeles Times.
On Monday afternoon, the school released a statement saying fraternity and sorority activites [sic] would resume on Jan. 9.
A university spokesman revealed that reinstating all Greek activities in January was in their original plan..

Why the fuck didn’t the school apologize? And why aren’t they reinstating immediately? They sure didn’t wait to suspend them. Teresa Sullivan is a feminazi, and the author of the Rolling Stone article only wanted to vicariously live out her own rape fantasies through a fabricated story. These are the psychos that we have allowed society to put in power. Wake the fuck up, libtard america.
11 years ago at 1:22 pmWhile I agree with you, the semester is essentially over. Even if they reinstated it immediately, the damage was already done. I think they are just pushing it until the next semester to be on the safe side so no one throws an end of the semester party, and some unfortunate (or falsely accused) allegations arise.

11 years ago at 2:06 pmWhat sickens me is how the mainstream, “Millenium generation,” media, i.e. Gawker, Buzzgeed, etc, is simply mad that Rolling Stone, “gave a gift to rape apologists.” Really? How about, they tarnished the reputations of several dozen innocent men, and helped to stigmatize an already stereotyped segment of the college age population? How come there’s no apology for that. Fuck Rolling Stone, fuck “Third Wave Feminism.” You can lie about Greek Life all you want, but we know who and what we are.
11 years ago at 2:36 pmHey Dorn, this is a golden opportunity to prove TFM isn’t staffed by a bunch of pseudo-intellectual bleeding heart socialists. After the sites recent trend of bashing greek life, removing the forums, and desperately trying to appeal to a non-existent PC audience demographic — it’s time for you guys to hammer Rolling Stone and all those involved in this disgusting feminist fantasy novel that proved to contain not a single shred of actual reality. Rolling Stone carried this article, with absolutely zero journalistic due diligence, (which is why they broke the story, not a major news network) simply because it “confirms” their worldview that the average weekend for privileged white males involves drugging and gang raping people. This is the ONLY reason they ran the piece.
Just look at their editorial history. The Dartmouth article, pieces of shit like “Should Wall Street Exist?” etc. etc. So, instead of sterile copy-and-pastes from the news — how about taking a damn stand? How about a personally written op-ed piece destroying these people for their attempt to ruin these kids lives, and more importantly invent a false narrative to get everyone on-board for their national crusade against fraternity life. If you’re gonna keep trying to make TFM a “serious” place by censoring your content and commenting on national events like this, at least take the side of Greek life when it is painfully obvious that its in the right. Writing a piece defending our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS shouldn’t be too hard for you guys. Defending due process and defending the presumption of innocence is not a complex endeavor.
The writers and editors at Rolling Stone, WaPo, HuffPost, etc. want to see due process, the presumption of innocence, and greek life die a horrible death. It’s way past due that you call them out.
Unless, of course, you agree with them.
11 years ago at 3:28 pmRemember that time they said the Boston Bomber “had so much potential and made a few bad choices.” Yeah, fuck them.
11 years ago at 5:10 pmThe real question is why did people consider rolling stone to be a legitimate news source in the first place?
11 years ago at 4:00 pmNobody deserves what they put those students through. Rolling Stone and the UVA administration are complete trash.

Holy shit this story is collapsing faster than Bacon’s white cell count.
According to Jackie’s friends, she DID give them the name of her attacker – a name which does not exist in any UVA student databases.
She also showed them a picture of “Drew”. A picture which was actually of a dude she went to high school with who didn’t know her, never went to UVA, had not been to Charlottesville in six years, and was in another state participating in an athletic tournament the weekend of the alleged incident.
This bitch is legitimately insane. She literally made the entire thing up.
11 years ago at 2:11 amI’m just going to leave this most recent development here:

tl;dr: Massive chance she made “Drew” up in an attempt to make a disinterested guy jealous of her and escalated things tremendously when it didn’t work
