Another HS Frat Star Outbreak Occurring In Houston Area
It’s an epidemic. The latest outbreak is coming out of the Houston, TX area, at Woodlands High School.
The emailer who notified us provides some pretty solid commentary — as he typed this up instead of doing his physics homework — so we’ll let him take it from here.
I am a high school student at The Woodlands High School just north of Houston. I am wrapping up my junior year and just received my yearbook when I notice something, quite frankly shocking.
There is a section talking about styles that are in and in my HIGH SCHOOL YEAR BOOK EVIDENTLY PEOPLE ARE FRATTY. I hear people call one another “geeds” and “pledge” despite the fact that the are currently GDIs and in fact aspire to pledge. It is an epidemic on the rise. While I am admitting in the recent months I may have displayed some attributes of a HSFS and a try hard (given that I caught myself wearing a vineyard vines vest in some boat shoes and not owning a pair of shorts that are longer that mid quad) but this is too much.
It’s gotten to the point where a yearbook states a student is “fratty.” Also he’s wearing a watch from JC Penny and a shirt from Marshall’s, how is that “fratty”? Regardless as I angrily type this on my iPhone instead doing physics I just thought who else but the writers and editors of TFM would enjoy that photo of the ultimate high school frat star.
Sincerely, ******* ******
And the yearbook photo:
its fine to be a HSFS you just cant blatantly skip leg days like this dude, cmon man.
12 years ago at 4:50 pmI actually give props to the kids for trying, I believe there’s a few chapters here who have what you all call “Fratterstars” here at the UW, we tend to be a diverse society in all though. I might add that if he was to pledge to HUSKIES PIKE then the gazing policy might be be broken (;. (like how we changed the name, its because our Pike is not your average here at the dub)
12 years ago at 4:51 pmWE DO IT DAWGIE STYLE
From one PIKE to another: Please, stop existing.
12 years ago at 1:14 amMemorial High School in Houston,TX literally had a “Frat” themed pep rally. They wore bro tanks and brought red solo cups, I shit you not.
12 years ago at 4:54 pmLooks like we need to start hazing out younger brothers a little harder around this state.
12 years ago at 6:19 pmI graduated from Memorial in 12′ after attending the school for one semester and its full of try hards. Kids would talk about posts on TFM all the time and how “fratty” they are when a lot of those kids ended up going to community college.
12 years ago at 9:34 pmI did in ’09. Shit has gotten ridiculous. Just because everyone is loaded doesn’t mean they aren’t a bunch of geeds. I was just at their graduation for a cousin and I could have sworn it was a rush event…
12 years ago at 3:38 pmEveryone complains about how much high school try hards suck, but most of the kids end up joining top tier houses at UT (ACC)/A&M/TTU
12 years ago at 1:24 pm^^ With the book being releases this year, TFM has definitely peaked with popularity and the majority of these boys have now spent their entire hs hearing about TFM so most of them haven’t rushed yet.

12 years ago at 5:19 pmIf I go through someone’s twitter and Facebook and find any evidence of them thinking they’re a frat star they’re getting balled faster than an analogy I can’t think of right now.
12 years ago at 5:36 pmI use “dropped like the bass” pretty often. Gets a few chuckles
12 years ago at 3:26 pmThey forgot to mention he got his pose at “Big Gay Al’s”.
12 years ago at 6:27 pmI’m a high schooler in Houston and I felt the need to say that this in no way repersents the average high schooler in Houston. While a lot of kids, especially the rich white kids that I typically hang around, may dress in what one considers “fratty” we do not consider ourselves the slight bit fratty. We wear vineyard vines southern tide polo and brooks brother mainly because they are the nicest chothes out their and among private school kids, which there are many, it fits the dress code. The only people thay think they are fratty are almost universally hated by the school and have questionable sexuality. That being said the woodlands kids are not like this in the slightest. First they are full of inflated ideas. They believe they are city kids, it’s a large town of country hicks. They believe they are rich, the average person could sell all their possessions and get 100 soft in Houston proper. On behalf of high schoolers everywhere I apologize for the actions of the weird “frat stars” that call themselves apart of us and on behalf of Houstonians please do not include the woodlands in our ranks
12 years ago at 6:50 pmKid, it’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with wearing Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, Sperrys, and other frat attire. Why do I wear such attire? Because I frat really hard. I always have. I shotgun every canned drink because it’s a TFM. Keep fratting and I’ll give you a bid. By the way, it’s probably not wise to tell everyone that you’re a high schooler.
12 years ago at 9:23 pmAs a woodlands high school graduate, I can tell you that this sort of behavior isnt tolerated here either. But as far as “believing we are rich”…is being the tenth richest city in America not rich? Not being conceited just correcting something false.

There’s nothing wrong with dressing nice or “fratty” (in fact I wish more people would). It’s when you dress nice because it’s “fratty” and talk about how fratty you are and shit like that hen you’ve never been in a fraternity.

12 years ago at 11:46 amyou have to appreciate the effort these kids put in
12 years ago at 8:05 pmThese guys look up to us, and were being assholes about it. So what, they think their cool and stuff. So do we. They havent experienced hazing and pledgeship yet, but if they think they can claim themselves as “FratStars”, then we will find out if it means that much to them.
