Anti-Gun Research Proposed In Congress, $60 Million Needed For Some Reason
Last week, legislation to allocate $60 million dollars to “anti-gun research” was proposed in Congress, according to the NRA Institute for Legislative Action.
What the fuck is “anti-gun research?” The NRA website doesn’t really say, but I imagine two guys in lab coats puzzling over a pistol.
“Well Johnson, it seems as though this end is the blasty-killy part, and this end here is the holdy part, but we can’t be too sure. We’re gonna need another $60 million.”
According to Polygon, however, the money will go into a study on the relationship between violent media and real-life gun violence.
From Polygon:
In more than 50 years of research, no study has focused on firearm violence as a specific outcome of violence in media,” according to the report. “As a result, a direct relationship between violence in media and real-life firearm violence has not been established and will require additional research.
That’s news to me. It seems like every week there’s a new study examining how “Call Of Duty” and rap music are turning our fragile youths into violent psychopaths.
According to the New York Times, hundreds of studies on the subject have been published in scholarly journals. Many found moderately positive correlations between media violence and real-life violence, many did not. Supporters of this new study argue that the massive budget is justified because it focuses on the media’s effect on gun violence specifically, not violence in general.
Anti-gunners are going to continue finding ways to justify throwing millions of taxpayer dollars at “scientists” until they glean the results they desire..

The 60 million could be better invested. Look towards LSU, dc could get a white house lazy river or something. But hey liberals, here’s a bag of dicks.

11 years ago at 12:45 pmbut the nra is involved, no liberals. also there isn’t a democratic majority in the house
11 years ago at 12:46 pmYes the NRA is involved. But the part of your statement I want to focus on is pointing out is the current lack of a Democratic majority. Are you saying the minority party can’t propose something? You’re a special kind of dumb.
11 years ago at 1:27 pmNo, what I’m saying is that this bill for funding has been passed already, while technically it’s possible for the minority to propose legislation and get it passed, the last few congresses make it abundantly clear that isn’t really the case the majority of the time. The majority party proposes a bill, then they pass it regardless of the other party because they have enough votes to do so.

11 years ago at 1:26 pmThe government spending money it doesn’t have things it doesn’t need? When has that ever happened?
11 years ago at 12:45 pmWhen I saw this headline I thought it was a joke. But seriously this money could be well spent somewhere else.
11 years ago at 12:53 pmAsking for more money than you need. TGovernmentM.
11 years ago at 1:06 pmHaving more money then you need TFM
11 years ago at 6:52 amCause I’m sure the illegal firearm owners in Chicago and Detroit spend their free time playing GTA and watching Bond movies.
11 years ago at 1:08 pmI see the government continues to spend our money on important things…Here’s an idea, a $60 million kegger open to all with live music and pools. You’re welcome, feds…
11 years ago at 1:08 pmWidening rifts between social and political classes throughout history has usually resulted in war. In other words, I’d love to see how these anti-gun liberals fair should people take up arms to defend their 2nd amendment rights
11 years ago at 2:30 pmThe political posts on here have nothing to do with fraternities or college and just cause a comment war. I feel like the site could do without them.
11 years ago at 2:51 pmI think the point of the research is putting media to blame for the rise in shootings. Such as news only reporting on the recent cop shootings which are blown up and causing more resentment and similar events to happen. I like this research being done but not for that price. There is a possibility that news sources will be targeted for a lot of the violence. A lot of people form opinions along the line of the media which is often very biased and inaccurate.
11 years ago at 3:05 pm$60 million dollars towards every American citizen getting their concealed carry permit would be far more beneficial, or just throwing a massive rager
