Arizona’s Delta Sigma Phi Booted From Campus Until 2018
Less than 24 hours after LSU’s Acacia chapter was removed from campus for hazing, a chapter at the University of Arizona is finding themselves facing the same fate.
Arizona’s Delta Sigma Phi chapter was removed from campus on Thursday after an investigation surrounding a fraternity event that occurred on January 31. According to reports, the main allegation was an incident involving alcohol hazing that led to the incapacitation of several pledges.
From Arizona Daily Star:
At least two new members passed out, several vomited and one lost control of his bodily functions during the Jan. 31 incident that occurred while Delta Sigma Phi was under an alcohol ban and already on probation for previous misconduct.
The pledges reportedly referred to the three actives who are responsible for the incident as “sociopaths.” The chapter’s list of charges was slightly fluffed with fewer serious allegations, such as providing alcohol to minors, making pledges clean the house and, calling the actives “sir.”
The national organization had the following comment regarding the chapter’s dismissal from campus.
“Despite the chapter’s strengths, poor decision-making and repeated disregard for the fraternity’s policies on alcohol use and hazing ultimately prompted a strong response,” said a news release from the national headquarters.
“The fraternity cannot, and will not, tolerate blatant disregard toward our policies and standards,” it said.
With the removal of Delta Sigma Phi, six fraternities have now been kicked off of the University of Arizona’s campus since 2012.
The chapter may apply for reinstatement in May 2018 as long as all current members are gone..

Separate from this story but relevant because I see the same opening to comments on this forum. STOP SAYING “LAP ME IF YOU WILL” If you really believe in what you’re saying on here it doesn’t matter if you get lapped and you just come across as a try hard. End Post.

11 years ago at 10:09 amShut up.
11 years ago at 10:32 amAs a Wildcat, I’ll say this is a huge, tragic problem. But I’ll also say I can’t name one of these fraternities that didn’t toe the line over and over (and over) until they crossed it one too many times. It’s sheer carelessness that sinks a fraternity here.
11 years ago at 10:07 amIt has become obvious that the Greek world is going to have to adapt to the age or intense scrutiny from the outside or face the negative media and overactive consequences that comes with it. Maybe there is a need to have some stupid chapters weeded out to show us how to better conduct ourselves as groups.
Oops, forgot to say “lap me if you want.”
Now if Fail Friday could be posted on time, we wouldn’t be forced to take time for introspection!
11 years ago at 10:10 amThere was a Delta Sigma Phi chapter on this campus…?
11 years ago at 10:11 amNot-so-fun fact: this Delta Sig chapter made it a whopping three semesters before getting the boot.
11 years ago at 10:12 amI don’t know all the details, but I’m quite certain some people piss themselves after passing out on the reg. Don’t act like this never happened in your chapter or that this didn’t happen to your actual brothers. Geeds in their dorm rooms probably vommited passed out and pissed themselves that exact night after drinking their 6er of wine coolers.
If they actually forced these kids to drink themselves into oblivion, that’s fucked. But if these pledges were just trying to get drunk and didn’t know their limits, it’s a non-story.
Then again if you’re on probation and alcohol is prohibited, you gotta run a tight ship and tame it down a bit with the pledges. I know that we definitely had a few 18 year old pledges pass out in the house, however we always had more than enough brothers monitoring the situation, ready to do what was necessary if they saw the situation escalating (and we were smart enough to bring a kid or two to the hospital in my 4 years as a brother). We were commended years ago for doing that, now I could see the Nazi regimes penalizing something like that.
11 years ago at 10:33 am6 fraternities gone in 3 years? Thats a bit of a track record.

11 years ago at 11:44 amWell fuck my ass
11 years ago at 11:44 amI mean this in total sincerity and no offense at all, I didn’t even know Delta Sigma Phi was a fraternity. Never even heard of the organization.
11 years ago at 10:52 amJust because they’re not on your campus doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
11 years ago at 6:50 pmAt least Tuscon is a fun town, I’m sure they can find something else worthwhile to do…..
