Army Colonel Warns Weed Shops Not To Sell To Service Members Or Else
If you’ve served a tour in Afghanistan or Iraq, you’ve seen some shit. My roommate served in Afghanistan, and I’ve heard the stories. This is why I’m not opposed to those returning home finding certain ways to relax and relieve all the stress they built up while serving their country. Whether that be a 19-year-old ordering a drink at a bar or a soldier lighting up a joint, these men and women have earned that right.
With the rise in marijuana legalization across the nation, my roommate and I have always wondered how this would affect those serving in the military. Well, it seems that we have our answer. On Jan. 21, Colonel David Chase sent out a letter to several marijuana dispensaries to let the owners know that should they sell their products to the troops, they will face consequences.
This is a new one. Department of the Army is now issuing letters to my #marijuana clients telling them to not sell to the troops…OR ELSE.

From what I was told by both Bluto and my roommate, this is pretty common for the Army to do. It’s within a commander’s power to designate any establishment off limits if he thinks the services it provides are detrimental to readiness and discipline. Rules are rules, but there should be an exception to this rule for those who are returning from duty, in my humble, civilian opinion..

Weeds NF. Keep your hippie shit to yourselves. Our boys should have the right to legally invest in anything they want, but still, fuck hippies.
11 years ago at 2:18 pmDo yourself a favor and stop trying so damn hard.
11 years ago at 2:25 pmNothing wrong with sparking up a J
11 years ago at 2:28 pmMe and the other pot-smoking conservative here in CO would disagree, fuck face.
11 years ago at 2:32 pmconservatives**
11 years ago at 2:33 pmShut up, meg. Weed is awesome.
11 years ago at 2:48 pmMaybe if you drive a Prius with a Coexist sticker on the back. Though I do have to say thanks for keeping the world wide hacky sack industry in business which provides thousands of jobs and stimulates the economy.
11 years ago at 5:39 pmA couple of years ago this would’ve been upvoted
11 years ago at 5:40 pmWeed is for poor people who’s life sucks and hippies.
11 years ago at 6:39 pmCouple years ago half of this weak shit wouldn’t fly. I miss the good ole days of this site. http://youtu.be/FSt2JQIpQBA
11 years ago at 8:46 pmP.S. – grow up and do coke like an adult, poors.
11 years ago at 8:48 pmThey can’t force him to agree to restrict his sales regardless of whom he is selling to, this isn’t Communist Russia. Besides those men and women need the green cross more than most.
11 years ago at 2:20 pmCommanders ave always place certain places off limits, including strip clubs, massage parlors, certain bars, apartment complexes, pawn shops, and even certain car dealers who have sold lemons to troops.
11 years ago at 2:21 pmPretty much ever massage parlor I’ve ever seen has been off limits when I was a Joe. No handjibbers for the boys. Strip clubs are slowly being banned, which is a travesty.
11 years ago at 2:29 pmHow else do boots find their first wives?
11 years ago at 3:50 pmthey wait outside with a cardboard sign around their necks
11 years ago at 11:43 pm^yea…go fuck yourself
11 years ago at 12:11 amUnderstandable considering the Colonels age, but that’s absurd. Our boys should be able to legally buy whatever they want after coming home. It’s no different from hitting the bottle in terms of affecting combat readiness or discipline.
11 years ago at 2:24 pmEven though it’s legal by in some states, it’s against the UCMJ.
11 years ago at 2:49 pmyou’d be better off getting caught killing hookers than being a drug pop on the weekly piss tests. make sure you buy those boys drinks at the bar because off limits establishments is the least of the amount bullshit they go through
11 years ago at 2:32 pmFighting for freedom but not allowing someone to do something…That is the American way.
11 years ago at 2:42 pmThe Fort Sill garrison commander recently restricted times that alcohol is sold. Alcohol can no longer be purchased between 11 PM and 10 AM. So, the Joes that get off at midnight from their 12 hour shift, they better purchase prior to going to work or go without. I’ve never understood restrictive times or days for purchase of alcoholic beverages. It’s a legal product, but 60 seconds can mean the difference between purchase or not. How are things different in that minute?
11 years ago at 8:54 amAs a service member you are not only subject to common law, but also the UCMJ(uniform code of military justice) so even if weed was completely legal ,whatever the commanders say goes
11 years ago at 2:45 pmProtecting this country, TFM. Thanks bro
11 years ago at 3:59 pmthat said, you can’t be tried for both, but its usually whichever one is worse.
11 years ago at 11:44 pmI’m too conservative not to agree with this Colonel though…
11 years ago at 3:01 pmI remember my senior year of high school,
11 years ago at 7:19 pmOkay lap me but I agree with the colonel to an extent. We all know a guy that smokes weed everyday all day; he’s lazy as fuck, fat, and semi retarded. You don’t want a guy like that protecting our country. You’d have to find a way for distribution in moderation which currently no solution has been found. Maybe after they come back from deployment write scripts for 3 weeks to help them readjust to life back home.
11 years ago at 3:05 pmI don’t have any research on the topic, but on the surface I like the idea of prescriptions after they come home from a tour. So many of them end up with PTSD, maybe this could be an option for treatment? Better than giving them mind-numbing pills I’d imagine.
11 years ago at 4:03 pmSomeone who’s brave enough to serve in our military is obviously a driven person. Smoking weed only turns you into a piece of shit if you let it, same with any substance. I agree with you, but don’t make it seem like smoking a joint every now and then automatically turns you into a degenerate.
11 years ago at 4:09 pmThat’s why I said moderation. No matter how driven you are if you light up everyday you’re not going to be. If you can find a way to equally distribute no more than a certain amount over a certain period of time then that would be fine. But you can’t be as good as you need to be as a soldier if you’re smoking a gram a day everyday.
11 years ago at 4:31 pmGod bless the troops, but that is definitely not always the case. Anyone in the military will admit it has a ton of fuck-ups.
11 years ago at 5:32 pmUnfortunately since weed is still illegal on a national level soldiers can’t smoke weed
11 years ago at 3:21 pmEven if it does become legal nation wide, UCMJ will most likely not change. If somehow it does change, commanders can and will say it is not aloud. But that’s the life of a soldier, we are at the digression of our chain of command and UCMJ. Everyone who enlists accepts that not every decision is ours.
