Just over two weeks after Arnold Palmer’s 87th birthday, the legendary golfer passed away at his Pennsylvania home, per multiple reports.

Palmer, who won 62 PGA tournaments — including seven majors and four green jackets — was an icon in the world of sports. The Pennsylvania native dominated the sport between 1958 and 1970.

Outside of golf, Palmer was an avid pilot with 50 years of cockpit experience. The airport in his hometown of Latrobe, Pa. is named in his honor.

In 2001, Palmer began selling his signature lemonade and sweet iced tea drink aptly named the “Arnold Palmer.”

I was blessed to meet Palmer during a pro-am he participated in while I was in high school. Palmer took a few moments out of his day to talk about western Pennsylvania with my father and I. My family hails from the same area.

It is an incredibly sad day in the world of sports.

He’s a true legend, and I wish I could have seen him play in his prime.

First Jose Fernandez, now Arnold Palmer. September 25, 2016 is now one of the worst days ever in recent memory.

Vin Scully singing “The Wind Beneath My Wings” is something that could cause tears of joy. Alas, I could shed no more tears, as the previous news that Jose Fernandez died essentially ruined my day.

Next round of golf you play, try the risky shots you normally wouldn’t and go for those par 5’s in two. Arnold wouldn’t lay up, neither should you.

    RIP Mr Palmer.

Driver off the deck on 18 during his last round at Bay Hill was stuff of legend.

Not just a legend on the course but the embodiment of a gentlemen. His character was as straight as drive. Rest easy King.
