I’m sure the house you’re living in right now would have been ripped to shreds… nothing stood up to this tornado man. Brick homes were just flattened… worse than a bomb.
I don’t care if Joplin is a city full of trailor parks or not (and it isn’t). Nobody deserves to have a tornado destroy their town. Stay strong Joplin. This is coming from Kansas, where nobody likes Missouri.
Last time I checked I live in the greatest country in the world who helps those truly in need and not those who choose not to help themselves. I hope they get back on their feet down there. And for you ceo geed you can go throw on a pair of cargo shorts and drive a prius to canada. Proud to be an American
IM_CEO_GEEDS you need to learn some fuckin manners…i live in joplin and by all means this town is devastated, one single tornado kill 132…i hope those 132 come to your house and haze the SHIT out of you.
Brothers, I think we can all agree that no human being, much less an American should have to go through the loss and pain that the folks in Joplin are enduring. That being said if there ever did exist candidates for such hardship they would be CEO_geeds and Feltch. These assholes represent the very worst of humanity, while they scoff and pass judgment on their fellow countrymen. No hazement other than Hell is fit for these bastards. God Bless Joplin, and God Bless America.
No its not. Those people couldn’t have avoided that tornado, but there is nothing stopping a poor person from going to college getting a decent job and making they’re life better. Our definition of “need” is different. We recognize and help those who are truly in need, and don’t make excuses for others.
“there is nothing stopping a poor person from going to college getting a decent job and making they’re life better.” Most arrogant comment, try college costs money that some don’t have? Just because some are born into less fortunate living situations doesn’t mean they are lazy.
There is a difference between someone who receives government aid because they can work but won’t, and someone who is the victim of a natural disaster. I think it would be pretty hard to go to work when all your shit gets blown away.
i killed brosama I guess you dont listen to the news or anything he wants to take aways jews homeland, Bush got crap for not going to New Orleans right after the hurricane and Obama has not gone to Joplin or even Alabama yet are people giving him crap no!!!!!!! He wants us to have socialized medicine which is the worst idea ever!!! I pray to god you are a Yankee and not a Southern
only_prettier: Your comments come off (and read) as the ignorant and cynical remarks of a 17 year old GDI who knows nothing about politics and simply rehashes the random bullshit remarks spewed out by their parents. Obama is doing an awful job running this country, but understand that Bush failed to evacuate or treat a hurricane days before and after it occurred; this tornado gave no warning of its destructive powers. Socialized medicare is a bad idea, but can you, personally, tell me why? As for the random Israel allusion, do some research on both sides of the issue before criticizing a movement to “take aways jews homeland.”
1. New Orleans had been hit by hurricanes before and no one truly anticipated how the storm surge would affect the city.
2. No one accounted for the how the directing of Corps of Engineering money towards pet projects and political patronage instead of recommended projects and levee repairs put the city in jeopardy.
3. Citizens were urged to leave the city and yet chose not to do so, My family acted quickly when they saw the size of the storm and left before it hit. They were not able to return home until 4 weeks later.
4. The mayor and the governor have first call. The governor must activate the national guard and request federal assistance. They were both slow to act and then placed the blame on the federal government to save their political asses.
5. Once the aid was requested and authorized,it takes time to gather manpower, food, water, medicine, aircraft, boats, etc. It was a massive failure of the consolidated Dept of Homeland Security to respond in its first test. When have you seen the government able to respond quickly and efficiently to anything?
6. Where was the federal response to the flooding in Nashville?
7. How efficiently has it responded to the needs of the Mississippi flood victims?
8. Israel’s neighbors have repeatedly stated that their only desire is the complete and utter erasure of Israel off the map and the eradication of the Jews. Their children’s television teaches them to hate Jews even to the point of creating a story line where their beloved “Mickey Mouse” is murdered by Jews. Considering this, their 3 previous attempts to destroy Israel and their repeated breaking of peace agreements, is there any reason not to believe them? Even my kind, moderate Muslim neighbors next door have expressed their desire to destroy Israel in conversations with my father.
7. Obama’s Healthcare law is so good that more than 500 exemptions have been given – 60% of them to labor unions or heavily unionized industries. In fact, over 30% of recent exemptions were approved for businesses in Nancy Polosi’s congressional district and businesses in Harry Reid’s state of Nevada. If it is so good, why do they need to lobby for exemptions for their constituents. much less exempt themselves from it.
8. Obama’s healthcare bill has been reviewed by the CBO and it has determined that healthcare costs will rise dramatically under its provisions – just as they have done in Massachusetts. This despite an authorized $ 500 million reduction in Medicare under the law.
9. Our grandparents and parents are saddling our generation with a mountain of debt which seriously threatens the value of the dollar, the dollar’s standing as the world’s financial standard and our generation’s ability to enjoy the standard of life as adults that we have in our youth.
To be fair to the Palestinians. I am extremely conservative and I for one have come to believe that the only reason for continued violence is the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. The Egyptians and Jordanians have signed peace accords with Israel and all other Arab neighbors say they will do so as well if Israel withdraws from the West Bank. Also Palestinians have come to accept Israels existence. I sympathize with people who fight foreign occupiers like we did the British. The tyranny of Israel over the Palestinians is worse than the British against our forefathers or the Union against the South in reconstruction. Also Israel offers us nothing in an alliance, and I for one do not condone the congress giving a foreign leader who has repeatedly thumbed his nose at us a standing ovation. If the Israelis had boots on the ground in Afghanistan I would be all for it but now they take 3 billion a year and for what? I am pretty sure they are capable of defending themselves now. They don’t need our money and they give nothing in return.
Not to burst your bubble only prettier, but Obama went to Alabama right after the storms came through. There was a lot of coverage about it. So on that point specifically, you’re wrong.
Not trying to add to the lengthiness of this comment thread any more than it already has been but how about… where was Obama during the BP Gulf Coast disaster? He was busy pointing fingers at BP execs telling them to clean up their own mess. Millions of American’s livelihoods were at stake and he barely did a damn thing. Better question, has he done a single thing for this country since he has been elected?
^To add to this, while the governor and people of my great state of Louisiana were trying to begin the cleanup process themselves, our dear President actually stood in the way and prevented them from taking action, despite Louisianian knowledge and urgency that would have aided the cleanup process immensely.
Fratgineer, false dichotomy. There are plenty of people who want jobs but can’t find them. Some people fail through a lack of will, but others are struggling through a combination of unjust circumstances and bad luck. As Americans, we should encourage a sense of responsibility and strong work ethic, but be our brothers’ keepers–always, not just in the most extreme disasters.
hey IHSFrat1855, you act like with loans and financial aid its free. It is still really fucking expensive. You are just an ignorant piece of shit. I am thankful I can afford college, but for some people even with scholarships and aid they still can’t afford it.
Prayers from just south of y’all at the University of Arkansas…in this region we all know about these kinds of terrible storms and are here to help. Be that providing some extra beer.
Houses made of brick, office buildings, businesses, and schools got completely leveled. Its so heartbreaking to see everything destroyed. Not much could really withstand or even have a chance against a tornado like that. Continue keeping Joplin in your thoughts and prayers.
Went down there earlier in the week, they really do need all the help they can get! Stay strong!
14 years ago at 9:09 amTrailer parks are magnets for tornadoes
14 years ago at 9:30 amOr maybe its a combination of the climate and geography.

14 years ago at 2:17 pmNot trying to be insensitive but it seems like tornadoes hit trailer parks more than any other place in the country. He is right.
14 years ago at 4:28 pmThat isn’t even a trailer park you dumbass.
14 years ago at 4:31 pmCEO geeds you are a fucking idiot
14 years ago at 8:16 pmor maybe smith, just maybe, its the fact that when a tornado hits, it makes the biggest of houses look like a broken up trailer park when through.
