Im not in favor of super conferences but stoops has been playing one game a year (texas) where as the sec has to play week in a week out in the sec. He lost his “big game bob” garbage
@DavidAllanBro Alabama is full of trailerparks, rednecks, and undesirables. The state that is truly FAF is South Carolina, with our beaches not covered in oil, Myrtle Beach being the golf capital of the world , and Charleston is the FAF city in America.
scbro1 ur a douche, and u just sound like because the last 5 national championships, top 2 teams, three teams ranked in the top 10 is pretty good. Oh and geaux tigers.
It’s cool Vandy, it was off of the Iphone so it was more like texting than anything; but hey, at least YOU’RE grammar is better than YOUR football team.
Well, I am glad to see you’re confident in your school’s football team… I mean, practically anyone can get into LSU. All you need is to graduate high school.
Bragging about your schools academics in a football thread? Typical Vandy. Nice fraternity houses by the way, I almost missed them because it looked like I was driving through a middle class black neighborhood.
Mizzou had to top ten draft picks in last years draft. Blaine Gabbert and Alden Smith. So ya they definately have a good program. What other school in the country did that douchebag?
Either way, both are gonna get hazed for the first few years in the SEC, but A&M did put up a good first half fight against Arkansas, that must count for something
^No it doesn’t count for anything. It’s like the making all the pledges eat ice cream of out a big tub before showing them the video of all the brothers jizzing in it.
Honestly, its not that Missouri can’t win games in the SEC. They would win some. It’s more of a culture thing. As much as fan opinions do not count in the decision, no one wants Missouri. It’s a yankee state that isn’t even close to being in the “Southeast.” aTm was bad enough geographically, please don’t subject us to this. Watering down conference pride and tradition for a few dollars and to have some St. Louis losers watch our games is foolish. For a league that claims to be so proud of tradition the presidents sure don’t act like it.
Do you own a map? Missouri boarders Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky (all have teams in the SEC). Columbia is 4 hours from Fayetteville. As far as being southern goes; Missouri was split north and south in the Civil War.
Alex, are you telling me that Kentucky or Mississippi State or even Vandy and Tennessee acts “frattier” than Missouri? Come and see for yourself, but I’ve visited SEC schools, and you guys are more into the brand of your Oxfords than you are of the quality of your parties. Get on Mizzou’s level, quit being shithead SEC “fratstars” with shitty academic standards, and find out how to actually rage without making asses of yourselves. There’s a reason only Florida, Vandy and Georgia are ranked above Mizzou overall, you are a naive fuck with nothing to offer than a witless point of view. You can argue with me, but you’re still a fuckstick stuck at a shitty school.
My school is ranked 112th in US Best News, 20 spots below your school, but within my major, we are #17 and in my minor, #1. Its about academic prestige within programs, not reputation as voted on by school presidents. For example, Clemson’s president admitted to ranking his school #1 each year for the last 5 years, ahead of Harvard, Princton, MIT, Caltech, etc…That brings up their ranking almost 10 full spots if you look at the formula they use to calculate it. But by average ranking of academic program, we are only about 3 spots behind Clemson, not 50. I didn’t bother looking up Mizzou’s individual rankings, but get off your “great academics” horse. You are like 90th, nowhere near the upper echelon of schools in the country. To make matters worse, you are a geed state and you would get beat in the SEC in baseball and football. You’d hang in there in basketball, but you aren’t a UF, Vandy, or UK, so you wouldn’t bring home any championships in that either. Just enjoy being in the Big 12, and chill the fuck out.
It might sound like the kind of cheerleading to be expected from a college president. But Barker’s votes in the peer review portion of the rankings — which account for 25 percent of a college’s score — appeared to at least partly validate some reported claims last week by a staff member portraying Clemson as consumed with moving up the table.
Documents released by Clemson show Barker gave his own university a “strong” rating in the peer review survey portion of the rankings. But he gave no other university that high a mark. He ranked half the undergraduate universities in the magazine’s survey as “marginal,” according to copies of his survey provided to The Associated Press (he responded ‘don’t know for 21 unnamed schools).
On Tuesday, Barker stood by the ranking he gave the university, which is No. 61 overall in the magazine’s latest table of national universities.
Honestly as a Mizzou student I am glad that Mizzou isn’t going to the SEC. While Missouri has really been improving its sports programs in the last 5-10 years its football is not on the level of the majority of the teams in the SEC. We’d win some games but we’d get consistently beaten by a lot of other teams. Mizzou just isn’t a fit for the SEC. Despite all this bullshit about rankings and academics Mizzou is academically superior by far to any SEC school except for Vandy and maybe 1 or 2 others. Also Mizzou hasn’t gotten into the culture of paying their players off yet, which is a necessity in the SEC just to keep up with everyone else.
^Have you ever heard of AAU accreditation? The SEC has two teams that are AAU accredited. (American Association of Universities, a recognized barometer for overall academic success in universities.) Missouri and A/M would double the number of accredited schools in the SEC. (Florida and Vandy are the ones right now…)
Do you think anyone honestly cares? For real? 5 of this 6 schools I got into are AAU institutions, but I never, for even one second, let the determine my opinion of the schools. I chose the school that gave me the second best scholarship, but had the nicest weather, one of the nicer campuses, and SEC football. In the process, I ended up being able to major and minor in too highly regarded programs that would not have been available to me had I gone to another one of the schools I got into.
Lastly, Mizzou isn’t in the URA, which focuses on scientific research, and has been associated with more scientific and medicinal advancements than the AAU in the last 20 years.
Yeah except no one said that. Maybe you were referring to Missouri having a majority of the AD’s willing to accept them but not technically enough votes to be accepted? Funny thing is that Silve said he can change those votes if he wants to.
As to the asinine “culture” argument: no one gives a shit. Really, seriously. No one. You think Missouri would bring more denim to a tailgate than the backwoods mouth breathers that permanently occupy Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee? Really? C’mon. Yeah people do dress preppy for SEC games, I get that, but you’re still a minority. I think if you can handle the SEC locals you can handle some Missourians.
Let the comments begin
14 years ago at 8:51 pmOU should go. Seems like they’re too vag to play real competition. I go to OU as well. Sack up Boren (and Stoops)

14 years ago at 8:41 amI heard the SEC was shocked to find out Mizzou actually had an Athletic Program.
14 years ago at 9:53 pm^this

14 years ago at 9:05 am$cam Newon’s a niΓΓer.

14 years ago at 3:46 pmIf they accept gAy&M over Mizzou, they clearly have issues
14 years ago at 10:14 pmObviously you are a Texas homer, because I’m pretty sure any conference would want A&M over Mizzou …
14 years ago at 7:26 amEither way, both are gonna get hazed for the first few years in the SEC, but A&M did put up a good first half fight against Arkansas, that must count for something
