Bar Fight Between UGA Fraternity Members Leads To Neck Getting Sliced Open With Beer Bottle

While attempting to intervene between a guy and girl arguing early Wednesday morning at The Double Barrel, a popular UGA bar, 19-year-old Michael McGuire was attacked with a broken beer bottle. He was struck in the neck and arm by Robert Williams, also 19 years old. According to bystanders, it was a very bloody scene. And from looking at a picture of McGuire’s neck from the hospital, those reports seem accurate.

According to several sources, Williams is a member of Kappa Alpha Order at UGA, and McGuire is a Chi Phi.

Channel 2’s Matt Belanger spoke with two student who witnessed the fight, but who did not want to be identified. One of the students said he saw Williams fighting with a girl at the bar and McGuire stepped in to stop the argument.

“He stepped in tried to break it up and the guy was holding a broken bottle and just swung it and hit him in the neck,” the student said.

Both students said there was a large amount of blood. McGuire’s father told Channel 2 Action News over the phone that his son was discharged from the hospital and is recovering with deep cuts on his neck and arm.

So, the below picture is allegedly McGuire in the hospital right after the incident, obviously before getting stitched up. It’s NSFLife if you’re squeamish. I’m Team McGuire all the way based off this one pic — not that I would side with a guy who swings a deadly weapon around like a maniac, but you’ll see why McGuire is so likable. He seems to be in great spirits considering he should be dead.

Look at this dude just straight cheesing. That’s the look of a guy who knows he gets to follow up every “how’d you get that scar?” question by telling the story of spilling blood all over a UGA bar during a beer bottle bar brawl. That’s some Road House shit. He’s gonna need to hand out beach towels before telling that one to a group of girls.

Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault..
