Baylor Fraternity Here To Remind You Not To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo With Sombreros And Serapes

By doing exactly that and getting suspended for it.

From Dallas News:

Protesters called on Baylor University administrators to address racism on campus after a fraternity hosted a Mexican-themed party Saturday night.

The Baylor chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity was temporarily suspended Monday pending investigations by the university and its national organization, according to Baylor.

Photos on Twitter showed guests at the “Cinco de Drinko” party wearing sombreros and serapes, the Baylor Lariat reported.

There were reports that some students had painted their faces brown, dressed as construction workers and maids, and chanted “build that wall,” however a Baylor spokesman said the university had no direct evidence of students with brown face paint, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported.

It’s the same old song and dance. A new year, a new group is making headlines for being insensitive and appropriating a culture. Whether you believe it’s offensive to dress like a certain ethnicity, culture, religion, etc. isn’t the issue. Because if they are offended — and someone will be — then you need to just not go there.

You will get some heat for it, and if you’re a part of an organization that must adhere to certain, defined rules and regulations, you will be punished for it.

Here are four pictures taken from the party. I see sombreros, serapes, and a noticeable lack of people dressed like construction workers or maids. Also no one is seen wearing brown face paint.

I’m not saying this didn’t happen, but I am saying it’s possible that someone reported this as an embellishment simply to make it sound worse than it really was. There is a very big difference between wearing the native attire of a country and purposely demeaning the people of that country by propagating work-related stereotypes like that.

Show me one pic. That’s all I’m saying.

I hope not, or I’ll be appropriating culture all over my driveway every Saturday morning.

But no one gets all pissy over St. Patrick’s day and the association between an Irish saint and alcoholism?

Baylor should be more worried about the group of degenerate criminals they call a football team than made up things like “cultural appropriation”.

Just like the white man to want to see evidence… The fact that someone’s feelings were hurt should be enough to expel all fraternities from Baylor. gosh

I hope they played Mantequilla’s (Butters) “Work Mexican Work” song from South Park at the party.

Talking more about the degenerates that go there than the football programs.
