Bo Pelini Embraces His Twitter Alter Ego, Carries A Cat Out Of The Tunnel At Nebraska Spring Game

I have always told myself that I will know I’m successful when someone creates a parody Twitter account of me. Just as Roger Dorn has @RugerFDern, I eventually hope to have some hilarious idiot with too much time on his hands making fun of me.

By my standards, the University of Nebraska’s head football coach, Bo Pelini, has dominated every aspect of life. I don’t consider him successful because he earns nearly $3 million a year or because he was the head coach of a major college football program before he turned 40, but rather because he has a parody Twitter account with almost 90,000 followers–and that’s about 10,000 more followers than the real Pelini has. That’s just really fucking impressive.

The comical genius behind the account @FauxPelini set the profile picture to this incredible photo of Bo Pelini holding a cat, while also wearing a tacky Christmas sweater. The account slowly gained followers and eventually exploded in popularity one day when the real Pelini had the following exchange with his imposter:

Since then, Pelini has regularly bantered with the account and fully embraced his alter ego and the running cat joke. Nebraska played its spring game this past weekend, and Pelini even emerged from the tunnel carrying a cat, which he presented to the crowd Rafiki-style.

The fake Bo Pelini quickly responded to the gesture:

Being a typical cat, the little bastard seemed less than thrilled to be thrust into the spotlight, but that didn’t make the moment any less spectacular.

Just to further prove that he’s a pretty awesome guy, Pelini even let a couple of hot cheerleaders call plays during the spring game.

Though he is a bit of a hothead on the sidelines and has shamelessly dared Nebraska to fire him for his behavior in the past, Pelini, without a doubt, gave us the most hilarious moment of the college football offseason so far.

Well done, Bo. I’m glad you got your cat back.
