BREAKING: Johnny Football Becomes Johnny Rehab, Enters Treatment Facility
Johnny Manziel has opted not to focus on his three or five step drop to start the offseason, but rather the twelve step program to clean up his act off the field.
From Cleveland.com:
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel entered a treatment facility Wednesday, according to friend and advisor Brad Beckworth.
In a statement released to Northeast Ohio Media Group by Manziel’s publicist Denise Michaels, Manziel is getting the help that he needs.
“Brad Beckworth, a friend and advisor to Manziel and his family, has confirmed that Johnny entered treatment on Wednesday,” the statement read. “Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the off-season was the right time to take this step.”
On behalf of Johnny and his family, we’re asking for privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland.”
A day after a thrilling Super Bowl, and Johnny fucking Football drops this news on us and steals the Monday morning headlines. If there was ever a way to make entering rehab a power move, Manziel and his publicist just figured it out.

Back in December, Manziel did harp on the notion that he needed to take the quarterback position more seriously. But if you told me he’d turn down six-figures to host a rager in Vegas, I’d have called you crazy. Johnny turning down a party is the equivalent of Russell Wilson not tweeting out a bible verse on a bi-hourly basis; it’s simply unimaginable.
I’m torn on how this plays out. Everyone loves a great redemption story. Star athlete hits rock bottom, struggles with demons, overcomes his tragic flaws, climbs his way back and reaches the pinnacle of his profession. It would make for an incredible movie, or at least a solid 30 for 30.
On the other hand, Johnny provides us with so much content that it would be a detrimental loss to this site if he becomes a clean cut, straight-laced guy. His appeal, at least to me, is his attempt to balance becoming an NFL franchise quarterback while simultaneously living the party rock lifestyle.
Never change, Manziel. Don't let those squares in rehab turn you from Johnny Football to Johnny Quitter. pic.twitter.com/FBb5tRTs0B

In all seriousness though, here’s to hoping he comes out okay..
