BREAKING: Three Shot By Gunman In Florida State University Library

Several minutes ago we were made aware of a shooting on the campus of Florida State University. Early reports state that two people were shot in the university’s Strozier Library and the school has locked down the dormitories and a second campus library.

Students have been tweeting pictures, reports, and condolences throughout the last hour.

A YouTube video has already emerged of students huddled between rows of bookshelves. A man can be heard speaking over the intercom, announcing a shooting in the library and requesting students to stay put and only contact authorities should they have a victim or valuable information.

There are conflicting reports on the status of the gunman. Some, such as FSUNews.com, are reporting that the gunman is in police custody. However, some social media users claim he was shot and killed by police.

CNN International has already interviewed an eye witness to the shooting.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims. We will update this article as more information becomes available.

***UPDATE 3:27a.m. CT***

CNN is reporting a third person was shot in the library. They have also confirmed that the gunman was shot and killed by campus police.

    I don’t understand this; at what point in your life do you decide to go into a building full of people you don’t even know and think is right to start shooting? Just save other people the pain/trauma and blow your fucking brains off. This sickens me.

      Herein lies the problem: it’s very difficult for anyone who is not mentally-ill to understand why mentally-ill people do what they do. There is a huge mental health issue being swept under the rug by this country. It’s incredible how little you can do for someone over eighteen who you suspect, or even know has problems. Then, add on the fact that every time that this shit happens the national conversation turns to gun control, and the issue remains with absolutely nothing done.

        Have they released any kind of motive? We had a shooting back in January, but he was doing it over some lovers quarrel BS, and only shot the guy he was going after. Not all these shooters are solely just sick people who need to be helped, some of them are truly bad people. Preyers go out to the FSU students, I can’t imagine the terror of being in that library.

    It’s scary to think that this could happen at any college and at any time, not all campus PD would be able to respond that quickly either. Fortunately, no one was killed

    As a student at Northern Illinois, my heart goes out to Florida State this morning. We’re only a handful of years removed from a shooting in a lecture hall that killed several of my fellow Huskies. I’m damned grateful to hear that at least to this point there are no human fatalities, and only one animal confirmed dead.

They’ll do anything to boost their ratings “24 Hour Coverage” pretending they care about the situation before in the 2nd hour of coverage pivoting to the fabricated political side of the story.
