BREAKING: All University of Alabama Pledgeships Ended By School Administration

This comes after an anonymous fraternity pledge detailed his hazing and the alleged hazing of other fraternities for The Crimson White, as well as an anonymous letter to UA school administrators.

13 years ago at 6:17 pmThere was no butt chugging and no one died. Some kids got their feelings hurt during a lineup and called hazing hotline. Meanwhile the cops rolled up on another house mid lineup and took pictures and shit. The Crimson White has constantly been digging around all semester to find shit on the greek system because they have nothing else to report on besides football. This is especially sad as UA was announced as the #1 greek system in the country last August, right before sorority rush. Whoever started this all up is going to get fucked like the pussy that they are one way or another.

13 years ago at 7:41 pm^^What I was getting at was that the armed forces “haze” to better the man, prepare him to do good and protect us, and I respect that. SEALs do it, Green Berets do it, any armed force personnel goes through some sort of physical hardships and abusive yelling by boot camp officers. What is it’s main purpose though? To protect us, like you said.
13 years ago at 7:51 pmTake that with fraternities. Our main purpose, intended by our fore-fathers, was to better the man, I’m pretty sure that most fraternities are based off of that principal. We have ways that create bonds, better the man, and put him through challenges and tests. My main point is that it seems a little hypocritical for people to be telling us that hazing/pledge-ship/whatever is immoral/wrong/terrible, when our own armed forces do it. I know comparing armed forces with fraternities is a little extreme, but let’s be real, it happens in other organizations that we look up to.
no, i mostly agree with that. this isn’t a hill that i’m going to die on. my main point was that with pledge term, there are levels of hazing which are perfectly fine and should be encouraged, but unlike the military, it’s hard for me to get my head around the *very* extreme examples (e.g. the drunk punch) as being a way to instill principles.

For example, The University of Tennessee is going hard on all the fraternities because of the butt chugging while UT is trying desperately to become one of the top25 research universities. They just don’t want more bad publicity.

1. There is a difference between constructive pledge training and getting belligerently drunk and beating up a pledge. One creates quality brothers while the other is stupid, risky, and will probably land you in a mess like this.
2. If your pledges bitch out and call the hazing hotline the first time they get yelled at, you aren’t rushing the right kids.
