Portland State Head Coach Says To Bet Your Mortgage On Washington To Win Title

I know that some of you guys have already lost your mortgage on Siblings’ picks. If you still have your mortgage left and are looking to make some good money, though then the head coach of the Portland State Vikings, Bruce Barnum, has some good advice for you: bet the 8th ranked Huskies to win the national championship. In fact, he’s so confident that the Huskies are winning the title, he wants you to bet the house on it.

From Seattle Times:

I don’t know what the odds are in Vegas because I can’t gamble because I’m a head coach in college football, but if I was in from of a tote board right now … I’d mortgage my house and put it on the Huskies.”

Washington is currently +1600 right now. LSU has better odds than Washington currently (at +1400), so maybe that’s not a terrible play, but I haven’t seen a Washington game this season so I can’t tell you in good faith to put your mortgage on the Huskies winning the title… Maybe like $50? Currently, betting your parents’ mortgage on Bama to win (+375) might still be your best bet.

If you’re wondering why Bruce was asked about Washington, it’s because his FCS squad is taking on the Huskies this weekend — which means he doesn’t think his team has any shot at winning this game. I love the move. It takes a lot to upset a top 10 team when you’re from the FCS. You gotta play perfect, have a few bounces go your way, and hope the other team takes you lightly. What better way to do that than to put it in the other team’s mind that you already think you have no shot? Stroke their ego to the point where they think they can just show up.

Vikings outright this weekend.
