However, he would get a tax credit for any of the taxes he paid on his earnings in other countries. Still, chances are he’s not cheating the system and the government knows about the earnings from these investments.

The whole fucking point of a blind trust is that the owner of the trust doesn’t have any control over how the funds in the trust are invested, which are instead directed by a third party, in order to eliminate any accusation of impropriety.
